Thread: Working on a mod, any interest in helping?

Default Working on a mod, any interest in helping?

    hey
I've been working on a mod for about 4 years by myself, and it's been coming along very slowly. I am curious if there is even any interest from anyone who might like to help speed it along a little. It currently doubles the size of the original RTW map, but with focus on the Successor States and the Mauryan Empire. I still have the code and it is mod-foldered if anyone would like to see it. runs through BI.
    Cheers

sorry for taking a bit to respond. college keeps me too busy.
in any case, here are some old topics i posted concerning this mod. the info is not all accurate as ideas do change, but the main theme remains. the mod is really going to be whatever i can do with the resources i have. i cant do 3d units so i played a bit with the unit skins and so forth.
i will post some pictures of the campaign map as soon as i can, but that may take a week or so.

I hardly see the point of starting such a mod, since there are several identical ones that have already been released and introduce much more in new features, new music and pretty much new everything. You can try Extended Greek Mod, Europa Barbarorum or Diadochi TW. So far it looks like a vanilla clone with a few modifications to the factions and a new map. Other than that, it looks a little bit too unpolished...

To attract new members to a mod, you'll have to do a lot of work yourself at first and do some rather extensive modding. Then show amazing new screenshots of new units and stuff in action.

Do note that he isnt starting a new mod, he's been working on this for the last 2 years. Besides that, most mods do the same in a slighty different way. The main reason I decided to do my work 'outside the box' and work on the ai, instead of copying history and fail in the process ... :)
(you cant copy history, at best you can set the starting map to resemble history .. just my opinion btw :D)
