    Default Buying settlements

Has anyone had much luck buying settlements? I'm trying to finish up a campaign as the U.S., and had been hoping to get Florida and Louisiana (part of the victory conditions) without fighting Spain and France (especially the latter, my only starting allies).

So far I've tried up to 30,000 in a lump payment, or even more spread out over time, without any luck at all, despite "very friendly relations"...

Your going to have to pay higher.

For a settlement that's advanced and actually making a reasonable amount of money you will probably have to pay upwards of 90k.

Florida isn't very advanced, at least not its capital (I'll have to check to see what towns are in the region).

If I'm going to have to save that much I might see about taking St. Augustine by force and buying the French territories...

Its easier just to find out which regions that faction really wants (I think every nation has certain regions they covet more), take that region, then trade them for the region you wanted.
