Thread: The Lone Lancer

    Default The Lone Lancer

I have really been enjoying playing as Britain and fighting in India.

In most battles I have been outnumbered by the Maratha and I draw back to defend a local town.

These small unit actions are great fun as just when I think I'm done for my troops hang on between the buildings or fortified in them to wear down the Indians with their musket fire and the occasional bayonet charge. It reminds me of the movie 'Zulu' where the British fight against greater odds and defend an ever shrinking perimeter only to just prevail at the end!

Any way the highlight for me was when my East India Coy Lancers charged out to attack a unit of Maratha infantry. They made an impact and then I withdraw them about a km away to a nearby hill.

It was then that I noticed a lone lancer still trapped in the melee. Expecting to see this guy get finished off by the mob I was amazed when he carried on fighting and dispatched two infantry and then broke free and casually trotted back to join his unit!

    What a gallant chap!

    Huzzah I say!

Promote him to general! Reward this brave soldier with a gallant award!

Speaking of which, I wish we could award medals to certain units, not only names.

Cool store, bro! I want some ham.
    No ham, pepsi.
They make deli slices of frozen pepsi now? Awesome!
You also need to purchase a small freezer for storage of your pepsi.
It runs on batteries. You'll need a few.
Uhh, I guess I won't have pepsi then. Do you have change for a twenty?

Agreed, I think that while Captain-Admiral and Brigadeer-General are good first steps medals and other ranks should soon follow. Sometimes entire units are highly sucessful and you want to award them but rather difficult to make 20 units all into generals, so a way to award a unit with a medal would be nice. I'd also still like to see a middle rank, something to say your on your way to general, but not quite that high up yet.

IG use to let you recruit captains who could command a certain # of men, and as they proved themselves in battle and got promoted, they were able to lead more men.
