hey i wanted just to ask if their is curently a way to change the sails of ships...such as making the pirates one black..ect...or if this has been done already.??

Given the fact that land units can now have individual textures instead of using the shared ones, maybe it's possible the same applies to naval units. Although I suspect that all factions use the same sail texture.
