Default How to gain technologies a little bit faster...

I'm sure more people thought of this but I'd share it anyways.

Let's say you have two schools, one university with a gentlemen in it and one basic school. Obviously the university will produce much more research. Let's say the university produces 5x points per turn and the school produces 2x points. Now you are researching the bayonet which required 11x points of research ( numbers are fictive! ) If your university would research this it would finish in 3 turns but your last turn would be a huge waste, of your 5 points only one would be used.
Instead, change to your school to the bayonet when there's only one turn left, and start the university on another technology.

    Or am I plain wrong?

    thank you for reading

    * Also it is good to check out your gentlemen and scholars and group them per specialisation ( industry/philosophy/army ) since they get specific bonusses when researching in one of the tree fields. Thus create an ' army ' school which researches mainly army techs and harbours gentlemen which get additional benefits when researching army techs.

** I will never use the word research or technology again this much!

I will test this out tonight on my game, those are some good points if they work. Getting techs faster can make a big difference!

I am almost positive that techs have to be research from scratch if you start it at another school.

no, i have been doing it for a while. but late game there is not much point because i would have conquered enough school to spam tech.

Or you can just build more schools and taverns, scare everyone into giving you tech, conquer and sell useless property for techs, etc...

I don't bother doing the specialization thing. My schools are pretty spread out and travel time could wipe out many advantages of it. Then again, I'm playing the United Provinces. I'd imagine it's easier with a faction like GB or some of the landlocked ones in Eastern Europe.

The one I'm using is if I have 2 schools, a college and a university. While I'm researching the tech I want most with the university, I'm researching the next tech I want with the college. Once the university is done, I assign the college to something else and assign what the college was researching to the university. That way, I get a head start on the next tech that I think is a priority.
