no, i have been doing it for a while. but late game there is not much point because i would have conquered enough school to spam tech.

Or you can just build more schools and taverns, scare everyone into giving you tech, conquer and sell useless property for techs, etc...
Fighting isn't about winning, it's about depriving your enemy of all options except to lose.

I don't bother doing the specialization thing. My schools are pretty spread out and travel time could wipe out many advantages of it. Then again, I'm playing the United Provinces. I'd imagine it's easier with a faction like GB or some of the landlocked ones in Eastern Europe.
The one I'm using is if I have 2 schools, a college and a university. While I'm researching the tech I want most with the university, I'm researching the next tech I want with the college. Once the university is done, I assign the college to something else and assign what the college was researching to the university. That way, I get a head start on the next tech that I think is a priority.
why bother, 50 years into my marthras camp, im basically at the bottom of the tech tree and i have about 15 schools from conquest and built by me. in 10-15 years time i wont have any tech to research and ill start turning them all into crafters lolz
"How come i cant make friends like that"
"You need to get out more"
"Im in another galaxy, how much more out can i get"
I'd like to see someone play Russia and never research or trade for any tech ever.

That is what Russia did for the 17th century, but Peter the Great shook things up a bunch. So... I don't get it either
