Mini Mafia III- [Concluded]

Solomon Ibn Gabriol went to sleep peacefully that night. But his sleep was not so peaceful... he dreamt of nightmarish things and awoke with a start. Then he ran to get some water, for his throat was very dry.

"My God. What visions are these?" he thought to himself. Could they have been wrong about who the murderer was? He decided to consult the Torah for guidance. Opening the Torah, he was not greeted by the usual comforting sense of wisdom and self-reflection... the pages had been slashed repeatedly, and covered in blood. "Who could have done this?"

"I'll give you four guesses, and the first three don't count."

With a sudden motion, Solomon's life ended. A second later, his head hit the floor. Another second later, his body joined it.

Lao Tsu had not slept that night. He was slightly concerned because not everything had gone according to plan. After returning home from his walk, he lay his sword on the shelf, and waited in the darkness.

Sure enough, he heard the sounds of an intruder entering his home. He quickly went and unsheathed the blade, and returned to his bed.

The door opened slightly... Lao Tsu could see Thomas Aquinas looking in... he was carrying a weapon. Lao Tsu smiled... "nice try...." he thought. He waited for Thomas to come forward... closer... closer... closer...

Thomas Aquinas said a soft prayer, inaudible, and then said "God forgive me". He raised his sword. Just then, Lao Tsu struck with his blade and impaled the Catholic man, and Thomas dropped his sword. The sword was removed just as quickly, and blood burst from the open wound.

Lao Tsu: "So you thought you could sneak up on me, huh? You won't be killing anyone tonight."

Thomas Aquinas: "WAIT! I am not the murderer.... please... get me a doctor..."

Lao Tsu: "Oh really? Then why were you in my room trying to murder me?"

Thomas Aquinas: "I can explain... cough.... get me a towel, help me stop the bleeding..."

Lao Tsu got Thomas Aquinas a towel, and helped him wrap it around him.

"I never murdered anyone. I suspected that perhaps Kong Fuzi was not the murderer, and I went to check on Solomon Ibn Gabriol, and someone had sliced his head off... I figured it must have been you."

Lao Tsu: "That's an obvious lie. You murdered them yourself and came to finish me off..."

Thomas Aquinas: "I suppose I was wrong. If you were the Creature of Malevolence, you would have killed me by now."

Lao Tsu: "What is this Creature of Malevolence? What do you know about him?"

Thomas: "I know he is devious, violent, destructive, and delights in killing everyone..."

Lao Tsu: "Who do we both know that is capable of such wanton acts of evil?"

Thomas: "Oh no.... not again..."

The narrator paused for a moment to let it all sink in.

Thomas Aquinas: "Could my God have let me down? Is this... Pizza Lord truly responsible once again???"

Lao Tsu: "It is the only logical choice. This... God of yours... is he always so treacherous?"

Thomas Aquinas: "It's not in his character to be this unfair to his own followers, though... but I suppose I could not put it past him. He seems to delight in this kind of twist."

Lao Tsu: "Your Lord must not be very kind and merciful, then... why do you follow him?"

Thomas Aquinas: "I had to choose to have faith in something... I felt if I could trust... the Pizza Lord... everything would be all right..." *cough*

Lao Tsu: "Yes, it seems as if your Lord has let you down. Has left you to suffer and die. Do you not see now the error of your ways? Don't you realize now that the only true path is the path of leadership? Of gaining power for oneself?"

Thomas Aquinas: "I suppose so... I see it has its uses... but that sounds very strange coming from you, Lao Tsu."

Lao Tsu: "Accept now that your God has failed you... and the only true path towards wisdom is obtaining the power to defend yourself."

Thomas Aquinas: "All right, all right... so what is the plan? Do we gang up on the Pizza Lord?"

Lao Tsu: "What do you mean, we? You foolish old man... I have just proven your faith in God is pointless... He will not save you now. It is nothing but tragedy and pain for the rest of your life, which you'll be happy to hear, won't be a long wait."

Thomas: "What is all this? Why were you trying to get me to turn my back on the Pizza Lord?"

Lao Tsu: "Because I wanted to prove that your faith is fleeting... you don't truly believe in anything. So that makes you a hypocrite. You were ready to toss aside a lifetime of faith, all because of one mortal wound. You are nothing more than a coward, hiding behind the disguise of belief... now I see it was all an illusion. But you are not the only deceiver here... I have been hiding behind a disguise as well."

I think the game setup with 2 mafia who don't know each other have truly balanced this game.

So far, we have 1 win for town and 1 win for mafia under those rules.

Did everyone have fun, enjoy the writeups? Satisfied with the twist, which was mostly in the plot and not in the game design, this time?
