Scrapping "Turns" alltogether, and play the game in pausable real-time, like in Europa Universalis. Then you could manouver your army in pre-battlet to get the best position, and armies could march in realistic speed.
I would love an extende diplomacy, with more different treaties too.
Maybe actual artifical intelligence is asking to much....
