No Irish in me, but I had a couple of beers to celebrate just after lunch, right before my Historiography lecture.

Patrick's Blessings to all here. To observe the occasion, I'll set aside drink for the day, not fight with my neighbor, and catch Noon Mass at St. Mary's (and hope lightning doesn't strike the place).

Patrick came from Scotland, in fact its thought he probably came from my little hometown! I can see the castle from where he left for Ireland out my window!

    Happy St. Patricks day everyone.

Most sources indicate that Patrick was Welsh - which rather complicates the appeals to Divine intervention for Saturday's showdown.

However, the historical documentary that is "Braveheart" clearly shows that Scotland owes her independence entirely to an Irishman.

Ah, I wasn't sure of his place of birth (I've heard everything from Dumbarton and Kilpatrick in Scotland, to Wales, Cornwall, Brittany etc), however he did definetely end up at Dumbarton Castle didn't he? Otherwise my claim to fame for today is blown out of the water.

Heh, I heard a hilarious discussion going on between some drunk folks with their Guiness hats on when I was coming back on the train from the footy, they had the carriage in an uproar!

Myth Number 2: Guinness is supposed to be warm ... False
Guinness reports its draught is best stored at 42.8 degrees. Your average fridge is between 35 and 38, which is a bit on the chilly side. Unfortunately, most beer coolers in bars are even colder to accommodate our thirst for "ice cold" beer. Regardless, 43 degrees is neither warm nor room temperature. The obvious solution is to order two at a time, so one is always warming up!

A belated happy St. Patricks day to you all! I hope yours was as fun as mine.

I got to drink some good beer, eat some good food, and see some phenomenal Irish dancing (as in, one of the champions in her category from here: http://www.nanationals.net/results.htm )

Haha, I suppose 6 degrees is more like street temperature. Still, not as cold as your average miller's.

Of course, best of luck too to those who celebrate St. David. Though my money's on Patrick.
