Default DVD/CD drive doesn't respond (HELP!)

I have a HP pavilion computer and My CD drive name is this:

    TSSTcorp TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H652L

Usually It comes up as drive E: on my computer, but it isn't there anymore, I don't know why it went but I did windows updates recently and install empires, 2 things that may have triggered something.

I had to install empires over steam and couldnt use the installer as the disc wouldnt react on my cd drive that doesnt respond.

I did various troubleshoot searches, because the drive doesnt work I couldn't burn music onto CD's either, like I usually would from WMP, I went onto device manager and the drive has an '!' by it showing its out of action, I've tried updating it but it's already updated, I've uninstalled and reinstalled, to no avail. On properties it tells me this is the error:

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

But I don't get how If anyone has any ideas in order to get my CD/DVD Drive working I would be over the moon, until it's sorted My audio transfers and Game playing will be crippled!

In device manager, you can try right-clicking on the device and uninstalling it, then rebooting. That *might* solve the problem, but I doubt it.

Some games that install DRM "protection" mechanisms such as Securom and Starforce are known to interfere with proper optical drive operation, and in some cases cause them to degrade faster and fail much sooner than they should. Google for methods to determine if you have Securom or Starforce installed. Be warned, removing them will cause the games that require them to stop working.

Of course, it's also possible that your drive has simply failed due to age or poor workmanship. It's rather common. If your PC is under warranty, look into having it fixed if you've already done what you can.

I'm not sure if the warranty has expired yet, thanks for your help, any idea how much a new driver would cost?

As cheap as that? thats handy Though i have very limited computer knowledge, I do happen to know my dvd/cd drive is built into my computer, and seeing as it's not likely someone can open my modem up and replace it I assume that type of CD/DVD drive can be installed and attached to my computer rather easily yes? If you aren't very tech savvy, you'll need to grab a friend or relative who is. Tearing apart your computer and removing/installing new things is not really for the faint of heart and technically-disinclined.
