    Default Iphikratous Hoplitai

So I tried Koinon Hellenon after some time, in version 1.2.

And there is a definite change, because those "imitation phalanxes" like my old favorite Iphikratous Hoplitai are phalanxes no more:)

But i noticed some issues concerning stats of two units. Namely those IH and Ekdromoi Hoplitai.

Ekdromoi are available from lev. 2 native MIC, IH from lev. 3. Both have comparable stats (14 att, 19 deff,11 mor). Both have almost the same recruit price and salary.

Ekdromoi are Very Hardy, and thats it.

IH are Hardy, but move fast and are Highly Trained.

To make matters more puzzed, there are IH called "Misthophoroi" who are mercenaries only and are Very hardy too This particular thing looks like bug to me.

From the description of Ekdromoi, I thought they should keep pace with Peltasts, but they do not, as Peltasts are fast.

    So, my question is:

is this all intended as is written there, or should these two very similar units have somehow different stats?

It doesn't mean anything. You need to check the game files to see the majority of the stats. IH are meant to act like phalanxes, and Ekdromoi cannot hold a line. Misthophoroi simply means "Mercenary" or something like that, since all hellenic mercs have that name.

Cool store, bro! I want some ham.
    No ham, pepsi.
They make deli slices of frozen pepsi now? Awesome!
You also need to purchase a small freezer for storage of your pepsi.
It runs on batteries. You'll need a few.
Uhh, I guess I won't have pepsi then. Do you have change for a twenty?

I didn't even answer your question, did I?

Yes, they are meant to be like that. Ekdromoi don't hold lines, IH do. That should be enough of a difference already.

OK, so now the main concern for me are the two versions of Iphikrates Hoplitai.

The one which can be trained has Good Stamina (Hardy)

The second one, mercenary version has Very Good Stamina (Very hardy)

So far, every unit which has identical mercenary version has the same stats as its mercenary relative.

So i think there is a bug here.

No problem for me, i just changed hardy to very_hardy in unit datafile. (They have only 1 point of armour better than peltasts and exactly the same armor as Ekdromoi, both are Very_hardy), but i just mention it here for consistency.

If it is intention then you could explain it as follows: the mercenaries trained and lived every second of their lives as soldiers as the few remains of Iphicrates second unit generation experimentation tool. The lazy fools you recruited as Iphicratic wannabee hoplits from your degenerated townsfolk will never match with the mercs. This is only true for the relation of Iphy mercs and Iphy regulars because it's very probable that Iphy hoplits never existed except on paper.

It's a little bit construed however.
