I have done a search and can't figure out what affect experience has on the units. I know it improves them but what are the actual numbers?

To be honest, i don't think it does. I've looked on numerous campaigns now, and i've got units in my recent campaign with 3 chevrons of experience, and their stats are absolutely identical to those of units with only 1 experience point, and they don't seem to perform any better at all...
Maybe the bonuses don't show on the stats screen and it may be that i'm just not noticing the difference in battle even though it's there, i don't know, but right now it seems to me that experience is broken.
Really? If you look at the stats of the experienced units, u will notice an increase in accuracy, reload skill, and some more stats. Now, its not gonna do you too much good if you at first, but it does add up eventually. If your men can kill an extra 5-10 men per volley that means 5-10 enemy soldiers dont have a chance to shoot at you. Idk, ive noticed a differnce in my men. Probably more in melee though, because they are less likely to rout.
Yeah I noticed my infantry got better in my Road to Independence game but you can't see the difference when recruiting for a MP game. I am going to have to test it in practice battles I think.
Would be nice to see the stat changes on the cards. I don't think the Army setup screen works properly as it always says insufficient funds regardless of how much money you have.

Does the ingame statistic of ' reload ' or ' accuracy ' is more with an experienced unit? Or do you just take if from your experience and battle statistics and observations that it is so?
I only just got a 4 chevron unit so I will look into this next time I'm ETW'rring.

I think this may be a per unit problem...
I am pretty sure in my first game as Britain I could see the smally state changes to units.
However in a present Austria game the unit card for my new Line infantry and my 3 chevron line infantry has exactly the same numbers on...
It could of course just be a UI issue with the unit cards.
Campaign map doesn't show the effect of experience, Battle map does. Battle map also shows the effect of fatigue, leader, etc on the unit. Best I can determine (looking at only basic Line Infantry), 1 chevron = +2 Accuracy, +2 Loading, +1 Melee, +1 Defense, +2 Morale. Can't promise that holds up all the way up as I've never gotten a unit above 3 chevrons. Also cam't promise that it is the same for other types of units (light infantry, arty, cav). What I listed is simply the difference noted on the Battle map for Line Infantry units from 2 seperate battles. Not an end all, simply a starting point.
