Jury member of the Legion VS Phalanx online tournament.
The first round of the tournament has started. Who's going to prevail?
Gladius or Sarissa, Scutum or Aspis?
I always thought that flaming arrows were more effective against cavalry than normal arrows. Maybe the "I'M ON FIRE HEAH" animation is getting to my head. I'm fairly sure that Catas are invulnerable to normal arrows, but can still burn every so often.

Slingers are the best for taking out cavalry although i tend to hold back on them as it seems a little bit like cheating when your glorified goat herders can wipe out a unit of hetaroi in a few volleys.
As for flaming arrows i don't really use them outside of making elephants go beserk, although from what i remember they do more damage but are less accurate so would be more effective against bigger and armoured targets which is pretty much what you see in the game.
hey for some reason i cant post in the m2 section. wtf?

As Roman I usually have two Accensi and one- two archers. One archer is likely the crappy Greek ones, I always have them use flaming ammo to scare the enemy while the accensi and Cretan archers do the killing. Often works quite nicely.
