Man, I am already seeing April Fools jokes popping up everywhere, and it's still March 31st. I know it's traditional to get them in before noon, but please, kids, wait until after midnight!

The news about Conficker starting a new wave of attacks on April 1st is some days old as far as I'm concerned, discarding this as an april fools joke might be exactly what whoever made that virus wants.
Not like I made anything especially for it, but I would think the virus threat is real.

Unless I am affected by it, I'm not worried. my Comp got hacked before and it's 5 years old and it still kicking!

My Comp is up to date with everything anyhow.

Simple Conficker test: try to go to major antivirus sites (AVG, Norton, etc). If you can't get there, or are redirected, you may be infected. Likewise: see if "System Restore" works on your machine (just try to restore from a month ago). If you can't access SysRestore, you may be infected.

My son's machine was infected 3 months ago, and displayed those symptoms. This latest version of the virus, so I read, is aimed mostly at Windows XP systems.

Today's PC World newsletter says it looks like the April Fool's Day attacks were overblown (still, my 82 year old Mum-in-Law wouldn't turn on her computer today, out of fear).
Be well. Do good. Keep in touch.
