    Default 11 Playable Factions, Right?

    There are 11 playable factions until you finish RtI and then there are 12, correct?

    Vanilla game, yes. There's already a mod unlock for the other factions I hear. As time goes on you can expect more modding goodness from the community.

    Sort of. The US can't be accessed from the Grand Campaign menu, only from the Road to Independence campaign. They start around 1783 and their campaign lasts till 1810 or 20.
    Due to the ailing economy, this space has been foreclosed.

    Apparently there´s a way to unlock all faction but the webpage is in spanish and i cant be bothered to traslate the whole thing. Someone was asking for it so if there´s anyone interested or willing to do the translation here is the link

    Or you could navigate to the mod section under E:TW for a link, provided by mailman, or go directly to TWC.

    If you want to do it yourself, its a simple byte change. 00 to 01.

    The link to the Spanish website also has forbidden information

    Also there are many factions that are emergent and therefore unplayable because they have no starting regions. If you wan't to make an emergent faction playable, that will take moderate modding skills since you'll have to transfer regions from one faction to the other via the db files.
