This isn't a bug issue, but rather a case of carelessness on my part. I replaced the mp game edu with one that balanced light spears without remembering to make a copy for just this case.The new edu was only meant for the sp game backup, and so now in custom battle, all of the units are mostly mercenaries.
I am kindly asking for someone to upload a clean mp game edu, or if that is not possible, to point me in the direction where I can obtain a copy. Thanks in advance.

You can get it by installing EB once more wherever you like on your disk. Then copy the file from there and delete the new EB installation.
