    Default Immortals!

Hello there my favourite community! I have a problem.

In my last couple of campaigns my faction leader seem to be immortals. They die easily by the sword, but age don't affect them at all.

Roman campaign: faction leader 109 years old.
    *reinstalls eb*
Sweboz campaign: faction leader 100 years old.
*thinks its probably just a coincident*
Pontos campaign: faction leader 98 years old.
    *hmmmmmmmm*

My install: EB1.2 with CityMod, RS textures and Darth Formation Mod. (I also play with the alex .exe)

Since that Roman campaign not a single one of my faction leader have died of old age. Anyone have any idea what's wrong? Have I just been very lucky, or is something wrong?

I know since the install isn't "clean eb", the eb-team don't take any responsibility if something gets wrong, but maybe someone here can help anyway?

As far as I know the "mini-mods" I have installed don't affect ageing at all...

I really like this set-up of mini-mods so I would be VERY PLEASED if someone could help!

SRY FOR THE GRAMMAR! I WAS IN A HURRY!

You are using alex.exe which makes characters immortal. I think ALEX EB minimod has a method to fix this.

You can fix FM's being immortal yourself by going to export_descr_character_traits.txt and add the following trait:

    ;------------------------------------------
    Trait Immortal
    Characters family
    Hidden

    Level Immortal
    Description Immortal_desc
    EffectsDescription Immortal_effects_desc
    Threshold 1
This probably isn't save game compatible.

Wow. That would be great! I added exactly what you wrote at the very end of "export_descr_character_traits.txt" is that enough? My charcters will die as normal people?

Anyway. I tried to add the lines at the end of "export_descr_character_traits.txt". But the game wouldnt start when I did. It "froze" at the start-up screen.

So I tried to "steal" the export_descr_character_traits.txt from the "ALEX EB" mod. The game started without problem - I loaded my Pontos campaign and pressed "end turn". No ctd - but my faction leader got tons of strange traits; like client ruler and such. And he didn't die.

I guess that's because the fix is not save game comp..

If you're using notepad, don't. It can screw things up.

Try adding the immortal trait not at the very end of the file where the triggers are, but at the start with the other traits. And see if the game still crashes.

Speaking of immortals, in my Ptolemaic campaign in 1.1 I fought the Seleucid faction leader when I attacked Seleucia - and he just would not die. He was the only guy left in the town square, surrounded by my men, and he just would not die. I eventually won by literally shoving him off the square and waiting out the three minutes. He was still alive when that time was up.

Glitch? Or did he just have an incredible number of hitpoint-giving traits?

Probably a combination of tired men, hitpoint traits, and armour. Don't worry about it.

Cool store, bro! I want some ham.
    No ham, pepsi.
They make deli slices of frozen pepsi now? Awesome!
You also need to purchase a small freezer for storage of your pepsi.
It runs on batteries. You'll need a few.
Uhh, I guess I won't have pepsi then. Do you have change for a twenty?

Had exactly the same, but I could not bear with the thougth he was still alive so my men attacked him another 5 minutes, finally killing him.

    Post Re: Immortals!

Heh, I am downloading Alexander right now because I am sick of my beloved generals dying. I always reload, and that gets annoying after a while, especially when you see all of those traits gained you have lost by reloading and doing the "End Turn" thing all over again.

So all my campaigns after the Romani one, which I am going to finish in a couple of months (conquer the world) are going to be on alex.exe with immortal generals!! Ahhh, my dream come true.

Say what you want about role-playing and cheating, but I like my generals alive. I have months of history behind each of my generals, and 10 influence and management, and I am not about to give that up.

Especially that mercenary general that started out with a whole lot of negative traits, including Pessimistic and Dull, but eventually became a Governor of a province, Plebeian Tribune, Quaestor, Aedile, Praetor, Consul, and finally Censor as well as Pontificus Maximus. He is also a member of Equites, Nobile, and has a whole load of modesty and honesty traits such as Integritas, Verrecundus, Fretus, etc. That is just a small fraction of his three-page long list of traits. The guy also has 10 influence + management in addition to 7 command. I love that general to death, and I would be devastated to see him die.

Heh, except that he is in Ancient Rome. He was the general who conquered all of the Iberian peninsula for me (as well as Tolosa and Massalia). Interestingly enough, he is also the next-in-line for the faction heir.

Cavallery charge attacks negate the live points, so I always kill enemy generals with them, or when they are routing, but man I once had a ptollmaeic enemy general who was routed across the whole map by 5 units of cavallery, all where faster than him and surrounded him, but they couldnt kill him...

Exactly how certain you are that cavalry charges do that? Your statement seems a bit questionable to me. I have no idea whether you are right or wrong, so if you have any evidence or appeals to authority, present it now please. Can anyone else confirm or refute the statement? I myself doubt it.

Man, I have been playing way too much Civ 4...

When I saw this my first thought was the Persian UU which dominates its respective era.

Damn, I really need to stop playing that game so much...

Anyways, just to ensure that this post isn't completely off topic,
So the Alexander.exe version makes leaders immortal? Does that only apply to old age related deaths? Because immunity to Assassins and unkillable in battle would make this game very interesting, although rather entertaining.

It is therefore necessary for a prince to know well how to use both the beast and the man.

Heh, no worries mate. I also thought of the Persians upon seeing the thread title. The key is the "s" in the end. With the "s", it is a unit. Without, it is a state of living.

Nope. Immunity extends just to the old age. CA needed Alexander to stay alive during that 100-turn campaign, so they made him impervious to old age. And all the other generals as a side effect.

EDIT: On a side note, I just finished installing Alexander. Time to check it out!!

Yeah, but the title is with an "s" whatever though...

Well, it is a fact that the huge charge bonus means that a FM that's hit with a cav charge will suffer multiple "deaths" in a few seconds gravely reducing his hitpoints. If that's what seienchin meant than he's certainly right.

The first round of the tournament has started. Who's going to prevail?

Gladius or Sarissa, Scutum or Aspis?

in EB isn't this an immense advantage for a certain Greek state to the west of Macedonia, whose king is kinda awesome from the very start of the game? ;)
Moreover, I advise that Syracusans must be added to EB (insp. by Cato the Elder )

Is looking forward to the 2090's, when EB 20.0 will be released - spanning the entire Eurasian continent and having no Eleutheroi - with a faction for every independent state instead. Look out for the Gedrosians, the Cretans and the kingdom of Kallatis!
