Yes, actually. Anyone spot the mistake?

There is no mistake. You don't need Force Diplomacy when you offer a million mnai. It's pretty much the threshold for "accept whatever the hell the player offers." And I used the word "force" because demanding that someone surrenders their sovereignty implies a certain level of coercion.

He is probably meaning you could FD them protectorate instead of buying them with 1million.

As an empire builder I usually reach the 1m, but will take a while though....

I lived for three years not knowing what AAR is.

Having protectorates is not advisable. They are a bit bugged and the money script really messes up the whole premise.

I second this is way too much of a hassle. Better use FD, IMO.

Question Re: Excellent way to control the AI's expansion without FD

Why do you want to subdue the AI?? If anything, I always wish the AI was stronger. I never truly had a real challenge in my current Romani campaign.

I do this mainly to keep either the Ptolemies or the AS from too powerful. It's to protect smaller states like Baktria, Pontus, and Hayasdan. I don't do it to enemies that I'm actually fighting.
