Is it really so harsh to require the bare minimum commitment from a player which they agreed to give by signing up?

It is not harsh, it is quite reasonable. People who sit out and only vote once in a couple of turns may be compared to a group of slackers at a community soccer game who sit and smoke over on the sidelines or stand in groups to chat in the middle of the field only to run in and kick the ball from time to time.

I agree with this line of thinking. It's why I was particularly annoyed at some of my rl friends who I told about this game, who signed up without giving it a second thought and then decided not to participate. Notable exceptions are Splitpersonality and TheFluffyOne.

Now I either have to find replacements for them, or WoG them, and I'll probably wind up doing a bit of both. For now, navarro and El Diablo are safe. If they don't show up next round, they'll be in the same bag as the rest of the lurkers.
