    Default Revolution not working?

recently, while playing my UP campaign, i forced a revolution. i didn't know whic side to pick, so i tried rebels. i was annhilated. i then tried government. i let the rebels take the capital and it said i was destroyed and i was returned to menu. then i tried government but beat the rebels.all that happened was a party change. i want to go from republic to constitutional monarchy. how do i do this? step-by-step please.

Max taxes for the middle class. Make sure you're not winning any wars (!@#$% Iriquois kept sending 1 unit stacks into my NY's interception zone during the AI turn, causing me to 'win' a battle, and keeping my patriotic fervor up!).

Also, remove any armies you have in Holland to Flanders, or load on a ship and stick them in the Channel, so they don't interfere.

Side with the rebels. Fight the battle manually. I just succeeded in getting constitutional monarchy @ UP this morning, before leaving for work. There were only 3 conscript units in Amsterdam. I had one bodyguard, one line infantry, two militia and two light dragoons as rebels. Battle won with some losses and one-chevron XP for most of my new units, and UP is now a constitutional monarchy.

Finally, after 20 turns of trying to get a counter-revolution!

A rebellion by the Middle Class will give you a Constitutional Monarchy.

Cool store, bro! I want some ham.
    No ham, pepsi.
They make deli slices of frozen pepsi now? Awesome!
You also need to purchase a small freezer for storage of your pepsi.
It runs on batteries. You'll need a few.
Uhh, I guess I won't have pepsi then. Do you have change for a twenty?

Destroy the weaver in Den Haag, build a school, and upgrade it all the way to classical university. That's what I had to do to finally get a counter-revolution.

Alternatively (I would hate to do this), go fight a lot of battles that you will lose. Spam militia in a region that borders an enemy. Go attack some major army with your single militia. Rinse and repeat. War weariness (discontent) will set in pretty quicky, instead of patriotic fervor (happiness) which you get when you win. If you lose multiple such battles per turn, you should get a very unhappy Amsterdam pretty fast.

Max taxes is usually not enough. Build more then one school and destroy any happiness building. Set the taxes for the lower class to low and to the middle classes as high as possible. Do the usual trick with moving your army away and after three turns of complaints the middle class will revolt. Voilà.

    ok, so this:

    1. upgrade to highest university i can
    2. spam militia attacks at enemy
    3. lower poor taxes, raise rich taxes (this is ok since i have 2 other theatres :P)
    4. destroy happy buildings
    5. exempt other european regions from tax
    6. revolt occurs
    7. choose rebel side
    8. constitutional monarchy

    is that right?

How exactly do you tax the middle classes when the only two options are lower class and nobles?

nevermind...I though the taxes were set at low and noble but just looked again. I guess I just cant get the middle class mad without getting the lower class pissed too.

Be careful about that. Take a look at the Policies page to see the correct type of classes your nation has.

    Here is the breakdown:
Absolute Monarchy: Upper = Nobility, Lower = Blue Collar Workers

Republic: Upper = Middle Class, Lower = Blue Collar Workers

Constitutional Monarchy: Upper = Nobility, Lower = Middle Class

So if you are playing a republic, increase the taxes of the 'upper' class to get a revolution to convert to CM.

If you are playing an AM, increase the taxes of the 'lower' class to get a revolution to convert to a republic.

If you are playing a CM, increase the taxes of the 'upper' class to convert to AM.

Increasing the opposite taxes will simply cause a rebellion. i.e. Increasing the taxes for the 'lower' class in a republic will result in a rebellion that replaces your current government with another president + cabinet, etc.
