Default From Beirut to Jerusalem: Thomas L Friedman

Has anyone here read this book? I picked it up today for ten bucks and figured I'd give it a go.
There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.

Could be good, I'll start looking out for it, but when you can do post us your thoughts.

I realized that I read this book after reading the synopsis. It was a while ago though. From what I can remember he had some great personal insight on the Lebanon-Israeli crisis, and helps to flesh out and explain a very complex situation, especially for those of us who don't know that much about the area. I think you'll enjoy the book.

Guess you bought the pocket with the red and yellow cover?

Read it, loved it. The best part is where he writes about 'Hama rules'. A real eye-opener, that. The funniest part is the shoot-out between ministers in the Jemenite cabinet.

    Dassa old book tho, bro..

    Edit
Fail. I guess ten bucks buys you the hard cover.

Well I finished the book. My favorite part was probably Israels struggle with its own identity as I never had even considered that angle.

Very insightful but with the right dash of humanity

Yes the book is older than me. Published in 88 or 89 IIRC.
