The yashiki - Spring
The ninja looked around the yashiki. Several weeks had passed since the last events. He looked at the bag. The freezing cold had preserved the head perfectly, it was still recognizable.
Flames were rising towards the sky. He threw the torch into the burning building. Soon, there would be only ashes left of the Tigers’ famous Winter residence. The man smiled, legend would have it that the Dragon had descended from the skies to incinerate his opponent.
The assassin picked up the bag and mounted his horse. Shingen’s horse. The only survivor of this drama, apart from the lone assassin.
After one last look at the yashiki, he turned his horse and started riding into the rising sun.

Japan – Spring 1558 – near Iiyama Castle – Hour of the Dragon
Kiyonaga put down the cup of saké and looked at the masked unpertubed man sitting silently in front of him.
He was curious to see the legendary Kato Danzo’s face, or even age, but was pretty certain he wouldn’t get his hand back if he tried to lift the man’s mask.
“Konichuwa Danzo-san, do you have what I asked for?”
The silent man in front of him threw a burlap sack at Kiyonaga’s feet. Kiyonaga looked inside the bag and his eyes lit up.
“A miracle! ‘Flying Kato’ they call you. Now I see why that is. Excellent! Most excellent! As we agreed, your payment has already been delivered to the Kato clan.”
Without a word the man addressed to as Kato Danzo turned around and walked out of the tent.

Japan – 1558 – end of the Summer season, begin of Fall.
The Dragon was sitting down. He looked to his right and watched the burning woodpiles. On them, the bodies of the Takeda, men, women and children.
He turned his head again and looked the last remaining Takeda right into the eyes.
Takeday Katsuyori was still a boy. But he was samurai. The hatred in the boys’ eyes confirmed that the Dragon was making the right decision. The Takeda had to be destroyed for eternity.
The Dragon looked up, at the man standing behind Takeda Katsuyori. For months now, he had been wondering if Kiyonaga would have had a hand in the dead of his greatest foe. He would never know for sure.
The young boy picked up the clean knife and opened his kimono. The Dragon nodded respectfully. This one was brave.
Takeda Katsuyori would make his father proud, he would perform the ancient ritual perfectly.
The knife had hardly pierced through skin and flesh, when the blade of Kiyonaga, Katsuyori’s kaishakunin struck mercifully.
The Dragon stood up, it was over.

Japan 1558 – one week earlier.
Months ago, Seizaburo Makabe (Ichigo) bravely fought and killed the last of Shingen’s trusted samurai, Hasegawa Kinji (Kagemusha). Well, not just killed, he had butchered him.
Seizaburo's sensei always taught him that wisdom was greater than strength. It was a shame that the wise old ninja fell on his last mission. But he had succeeded and his dead had been avenged.
On that fateful day, in the yashiki not only did Hasegawa die in that smoky room, Seizaburo died as well. A new Kato Danzo was born.
The masked man now known and feared as Kato Danzo walked out of the camp and headed west.
The informants of his clan had brought him a message.
Oda Nobunaga was willing to pay to see Uesugi Kenshin, the Dragon, fall…
The ninja grinned.
Once again, "Flying Kato" would change the course of history.
