Thread: Tired of Previews!

Why do all these gaming sites like IGN, and Gamespot keep giving us the same information? IGN for example has yet another preview of Shogun with absolutely no new information. You mean there are Mongols in the expansion game? Gee, like I didn't know that a year ago. If you don't have anything new to say, just tell us when it goes gold and quit wasting everyones time.

LOL, i think we're all getting a little antsy waiting for this one. Doesn't help that they pushed it back...

I almost wish they had just released it as it was, and on time (such that i would be picking it up by next Wednesday or so), with any needed patches coming later.

Nevertheless, my better judgement suggests that it may be more prudent to wait for the devs to get it right... and that the expansion will be that much more worth the wait.

But damn, how i hate to wait.

I agree with you Zaxxon. The game sites and magazines are so concerned with what will be coming out. Once most games hit the shelves, they could care less. Very little is usually said afterwards other than listing cheat codes.

It is like the joke about people's tendencies to channel surf with cable TV - they don't want to know what is on, they want to know what else is on.

Well... they have to put SOMETHING on those tired gaming sites, don't they? Imagine having to update something as crap as IGN day in and day out! And some of the sites are OK... gonegold.com... gamespot...

and imagine having to re-write (so it appears to be original or "exclusive") an article that was downloaded from another site just minutes before! That is the kind of publishing that kills the souls of bottom-rung writers everywhere.

These previews are not meant for us. They're meant for newbies or people who don't follow the news regularly, who then happen to stumble on a site with a preview. Certainly, they could use some originality, rather than copy-pasting press releases, but their job is to make more and more people aware of the expansion and get them to look forward to it. Does that bother you? It certainly doesn't bother me.

For those of you other old-timers that are still hanging around, and those like myself who were lurking in the days prior to the original release, does ANY of this sound familiar? Hmmmmmmm?

If I didn't know any better I'd think that we had just time-slipped back a year to just before the original game came out. How sick and tired we all were of the previews then. I do have to admit that there was a bit more tension in the air back then! lol

All we need now is a good round of abuse from Metha and everything will be all right!

    Hey Obake,

    Checking again the forums here,

I still do not have plans to buy no expansion whatsoever related with STW.

I just checked the Community forums, it seems good news for you guys: release 29th June think it says.

For me the developers of STW failed many times to provide a good service. I do not have the patience of many of you guys. I simply preferred to play other games and do other stuff than just waiting for patches and feedback that never came from them.

As you can probably imagine, the online community is but a minor fraction of the potential buyers of any expansion. They do not think or fully realize that this online community is critical for their sales. If they did, patches and updates would have been more effective and timely, I asure you.

But they weren't. Thats why I still think STW is not worth my humble time. There are sooo many other good games around to have fun with that it is simply not worth it waiting for STW updates and patches and fair developer/programmer/whoever feedback when things go wrong in the servers .

I know Erado will strongly disagree with my vision on the progress of the developers... but he is a good guy... and so am I

It is just that I honestly think the developers do not really, deeply and trully think this online community is the key for their sales and benefits and the results of that lack of faith is clearly seen in their lack of quality/timely support and feedback to solve sooo many unsolved issues.

Be strong and tough on them. No mercy. You are spending your money with these guys for God's sake!, you have all the right to ask for your well deserved patch or server improvement. Taps on the shoulder are OK, but beware of the Stockholm Syndrome.

    Have fun !!!

    Metha

PS: thanks to Kurando and Obake for remembering me !!
