@Lemur The signal, now that is a movie that tries too many genre's. The first half is great, but then it wants to be smart, and fails.

Ok, some more recommendations.

The Shining, takes a while to get going but once it does oh boy, it will chill you to the bone. It's a shame so little top-directors like Stanley Kubrick want to have a go at the horror-genre because it's heads above the competition in just about every way.

30 days of night. small Alaska town, vampires, 30 days of night! Extremely tense. The vampires are no suave Don Juan giving the kiss of death here, but disgusting creatures that rip apart throats and feast, lotsa cruelty and naturally mucho blood.

- Dying breed => Inbred horror in Tasmania!

- Outpost => Mercenaries, undead nazis and weird machines.

- Dead snow => Norwegian horror with nazi zombies!

- Martyrs => French horror. Makes Hostel look like a picnic.

- Last house on the left => Rape/ revenge, watch the original.
