I think that you miss the point: the quotes aren't commentaries by the EB team; they are actual parts of the historical record: things that people actually said or wrote. The quotes are not in any way endorsed by EB team members as the official team position on any particular faction- and to think that they are is more than a little silly. For example, this one:
This is a numismatic quote: it comes from an actual coin of Arsaces. Including it does not imply that the EB team claims that Arsaces was beneficient, just, outstanding, friendly to Greeks, or the King of all Kings. These are things that he said about himself, that he wished others to believe of him, not things that we claim are true. Or this one:{Author_3} Legend on a Parthian Coin
{Quote_3} Basileos Basileon Arsakou Euergetou Dikaiou Epiphanous Philillenos
{trans_3} Of the King of Kings, Arsaces, Beneficent, Just, Outstanding, Friend to Greeks
This is something that Cato actually said and is an important part of the record - it doesn't mean that the EB team is anti-Carthaginian.{quote_229} Ceterum censeo Carthaginem esse delendam.
{trans_229} Moreover, I advise that Carthage should be destroyed.
{Author_229} Cato the Elder
Seriously, now.
