loading campaign problem

This problem has been happening approximately 70 to 80% of every campaign load. Once game stops loading I have to reboot computer, it is getting really annoying. I have deduced from reading other threads that I probably have a corrupt install but have no idea how to repair the corrupt files. I have already tried removing all files of RTW and EB and installing again 3 times and still have a corrupt download with the same problem. When I do get the campaign game to load the game works fine, just tired of having to waste time by rebooting computer 4 to 5 times before the game will load correctly.

Can someone tell me what to do next? I could really use the help.

Are you following this guide to completly wipe EB and RTW from your computer?

Try placing the install in a different area, especially not in Program Files if you have Vista.

And where are you downloading your EB version from?

Question 1: No, I did not follow guide exactly
#2: I do not have Vista, I use Windows XP.
#3: I downloaded from Bittorrent, Filefront and another mirror that I can't recall. All still corrupt.

I think next I will follow the guidlines strictly and hopefully I will have a clean EB. I never had any problems in earlier versions of EB, so I didn't bother following instructions exactly, learned my lesson, all these problems started with Version 1.2.

I removed all EB and RTW files and reinstalled exactly like the thread recommended and still have the same problem. Any ideas, I'm at a loss as to what to do next. EB loads fine and then I start a campaign and the green load bar will get to 1/8 complete when it just stops loading and the loadbar will stay in the same spot after a few minutes I have to reboot.

This is an EB 1.2 validation, so your latest attempt should be good. Also, there are no significant changed files, so you'll probably be better off trying the suggestions in the validation post instead of reinstalling again.

I suggest you run Memtest overnight and try to both upgrade AND DOWNGRADE your video drivers to see if they make any difference.

I'll try Memtest tonight, I also upgraded and downgraded drivers and still had the same problem. I remember this problem starting 6 to 8 months ago and it progressively has detiorated into the situation is now. I recently purchased a new dvd rom drive so it is not that. By the way, what is Memtest?

Memtest found no problems. Thanks for your help I'll eventually find out what is wrong, it may take a little longer on my own, the funny thing is my pc only has problems with EB, anything else I run works just fine.

My motherboard went out a few days ago, so that was the problem with my instability. I recently upgraded my PC(new motherboard, cpu, video card, Ram, psu, Hard drive) so that it is basically new with 4 gigs of RAM and I just started a new campaign and everything runs very fast and the graphics are just beautiful. With my previous set up I had to run the game in low or medium settings, now I can run in high settings.
