Default Have you installed Kingdoms, LTC and are ready to play?

This is not a proper poll - you are not voting for anything (certainly not for a majority to start the game).

The poll tool is just being used as a device to record whether the people who have signed up for KotF are ready to play.

If you have successfully installed Kingdoms, patched it and installed Lands to Conquer Gold, then vote for yourself. Otherwise, just wait until you are ready and then vote.

When we are all ready or Zim loses patience, we can start.

If you were not signed up by the time of this poll, please just post your status.
    EDIT: I think this includes:
    Overknight
    Beskar
    Andres?
    Northnovas
    TheLemongate

If you have voted yes, but your status has changed so that you are not ready - or you want to quit the PBM - please post that here.

We still need the KotF mini mod though, before being truly ready.

Yes, but that will just be a question of putting a few txt files in the right place, won't it?

This poll is just to find out when people receive their copy of Kingdoms and install LTC.

This is probably a good place to post this rather than making a new thread...

When would people like to start? I know a couple players are getting Kingdoms within a week or two, is that too late?

I don't mind waiting a week or two, but I think we should get the mini mod ready ASAP so we can recruit the RGBs and get to character selection soon. I'm sure there are more than a few people eager to get a character.

I'm hoping to get the mod downloaded tomorrow, then I'll try to get the minimod together for testing and getting those rgbs recruited...

I agree. Mini mod should be finished and avatars recruited before we start. Perhaps 2-3 days before we start. This would give us time to create a history for our characters.

The name selection process is over but I can't seem to get my hands on the names.txt file that I need in order to fully implement the changes.

The file that Rowan gave me doesn't work with the descr_names.txt files I modded and I can't find the names.txt in LTC directory.

    Any help is welcome.

We can wait a week or two, but I agree that spawning avatars does not need to wait for that. Indeed, we could even start the first Council session without everyone having installed the game, so long as we do not start player movement (I think to get the avatars, the GM needs to advance the game one turn).

We just need the minimod to do that.

We should probably get a handle on the rules before the Council Session starts, though it wouldn't hurt if the pvp or duel took a bit longer. We should figure out whether we want the first three rgbs to be full fledged Dukes or stewards waiting on the princes to come of age, though, so they can decide how to rpesent themselves IC.

The idea of stewards is fine with me. We may expect some from the start tensions if a steward relented to release his stewardship in favour of the royal son.

The question is whether we want to be plunged into boiling oil so soon after starting.

Right now, the two sons are age 2 and 1, so there would be 30 turns or so before they come of age. Also, there would be one house without a royal at the head, seeing has the king has a daughter.

I might have installed LTC Gold on top of the non-Kingdoms LTC which could explain why I had names.txt and you don't. If LTC Gold doesn't include names.txt (it was right next to names.strings.bin for me) then I don't know how to continue.

Questions from someone with no clue when it comes to modding. If LTC Gold is lacking that file, where is it getting its names from? The name file for vanilla? I remember reading if a file isn't in the folder for the mod, the game just grabs the vanilla file. Could we modify that and stick it in the right folder for LTC Gold?

I am no modder, but yes, to all, I think.

What I think someone needs to do - who has not yet installed LTC - is to "unpack" M2TW to find the relevant file.

But that will have to wait until I'm back home.

Could be either way, as based on the Guide YLC linked above the game reads the names from names.strings.bin, which is automatically generated from names.txt at game start-up.

So it could either: use the vanilla names.txt to generate names.strings.bin for LTC Gold, or use the names.strings.bin supplied by LTC Gold mod (this assuming that LTC Gold comes with only the .bin version).

The problem being that the strings.bin file is unworkable...

The only thing I know for sure is that the LTC names and the Vanilla names are exactly the same.

You can get Python 2.5 and the .bin converter.

I'm waiting to see where each character fits into the game. Who is leading the houses? What regions does a house control? And etc...

Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.
