Default How To Role Play This?

I was cleaning out my screenshots and I rediscovered this screen I took.
I'm already in 137BC by now in this campaign, but I do still wonder how I could role play this strange occurence.

I also wonder if it is possible to limit the number of consuls possible in one year to only 2...

Its easy. Just Roleplay split your Senat into two fractions and one has elected a counter consul.
A good starting point for Civil war and Augustian reforms.

Another way would be to emulate the triumvirate that Caesar, Crassus and Pompey had going on - split the running of the republic/empire between the three

    I like that idea!

I hope this will happen again in my campaign. The situation is now perfect to simulate a triumvirate.

Hope it does happen - such potential for RP'ing, especially if one of the triumvirate becomes much more powerful (influential) than the rest - handy way of transitioning from republic to empire
