Default Boxing: Manny Pacquiao (Philippines) vs. Ricky Hatton (United Kingdom)

Anyone watching the match this Saturday?

I'm a HUGE fan of Manny Pacquiao. He's definitely a hero to my fellow Filipino countrymen.
He's one of the fastest boxers I've EVER seen, and he's always the fastest boxer in all the matches I've of Pacman.

He is the former WBC lightweight world champion, WBC super featherweight world champion, IBF super bantamweight world champion, and WBC flyweight world champion. He has also held the Ring Magazine titles for featherweight and super featherweight divisions. For his achievements, he became the first Filipino and Asian boxer to win four world titles in four different weight divisions. He is currently rated by the Ring Magazine as the #1 pound-for-pound boxer in the world.
Pacquiao had 53 fights, and his record is 48-3-2. 36 by knockout.

    Manny Pacquiao highlights

It seems to me though, most of his fights feel one-sided. For example his most recent fight against Oscar de la Hoya; he won each and every round resulting in TKO. Pacquiao was expected to lose the fight.

I also wouldn't mind if Pacquiao fought Mayweather. If Oscar almost beat Mayweather, and Pacquiao literally destroys Oscar De La Hoya, I wonder what the results against Floyd Mayweather Jr. would be.

Anyway if Pacquiao loses, I probably would cry. That's how much of a hero he is to me, and probably other Filipinos.

    Now Ricky Hatton:

He was the WBA Welterweight Champion, but relinquished this title on 31 August 2006.[3] Hatton is also the former WBU, WBA Light Welterweight Champion and WBC, WBA, WBO Inter-Continental Light Welterweight Champion, and current Ring Magazine Junior Welterweight Champion.
    Ricky Hatton Highlights

I don't know too much about him, but by looking at his highlights, he seems like a boxer he relies more on strength. If this is the case, Hatton will NOT beat Pacquiao. Manny Pacquiao eats fighters like David Diaz who was a bigger and stronger man. I will definitely look more into Hatton if this isn't the case.

Ricky Hatton has had 46 fights. His record is 45-1. 32 wins are knockout.

Manny's got faster hands IMHO, so as long as he doesn't get knocked out (And that would be quite surprising) he's got this fight covered.

Unfortunately boxing has reached a state where it's generally dull and too obviously the result of a careful arrangement between supposedly neutral bodies and suitcase pimp style 'managers' in the best Don King tradition. Not to mention it's boring and still suffering from a dramatic abundance of 'I've still got it... oh, no, I haven't' old men getting thrown a string of easy fights so they can get pasted in a real contest for bigger money. Just wait for Mayweather's impending (inevitable?) de-retirement.

I don't care what you think about the way the UFC is run the big names are not given cruise cards just to rebuild their hype and try to score one more off the fans.

Personally I prefer boxing over UFC. I really don't like how the fight continues on the ground.

I'm pretty young, I haven't been watching boxing for a long time, so I still find it exciting. Especially if the boxer is a Filipino.

In American politics, similar to British politics, we have a choice between being shot in our left testicle or the right testicle. Both parties advocate pissing on the little guys, only in different ways and to a different little guy.
