It is technically their freedom of speech, but then again, I'm sure most don't care about their little club.

That logic is a slippery slope. I wish we could just dump all those ignorant hate filled ******** on an island and leave them there, but if we are to be better then them don't you think that we should not taking away their rights solely on the basis that we do not like what they are saying or who they are?

on Facebook, there is something called the Jewish Internet Defense Force . we go around and report en masse all the hateful/racist pages on facebook. our most recent victory was a "I Hate Israel" page with over 122k people, and the topics discussed were appalling: "how to destroy israel and kill all the jews" and "we have to finish what hitler started" and the like. after about a few thousand people reported it, it was taken off. now we are trying to take off " the jews and their Holocaust bull ".
the fight goes on.

The people who hacked a completely legitimate protest group during the Gaza war? One without any anti-semitism, just sympathy for the dead?

I didn't (mean to) insult him or anything. I'm not sad either, i just think that once people have formed an opinion on a certain matter, it is very hard or next to impossible to "educate" them otherwise, it might work when they're still young but afterwards when you try to be objective they will discard all your sources as bias from the enemy and cite their own sources of trustworthy people, with trustworthy people being only ones who happen to have the same opinion they do.

And they would hardly volunteer for something like reeducation because if they were open-minded they wouldn't be fascists or whatever in the first place. Which means the best thing you can do is ignore it all, completely, anything you do against such people will be an act inspired by the enemy for them.
One of the best ways to convert people over to your side is just being nice to them and accepting them the way they are, not exactly what we do in the Backroom which is why Karl XII will probably disagree with me and we will have a long discussion until I start ignoring his arguments and just being his friend until he admits that I'm right.

I honestly can't say that I think bans are the way to reduce racism. I sympathize, but I disagree.

I prefer the mud out in the open, where it can be debated, ridiculed and shunned.

That's the downside of teh intrawebs. Discussions are usually futile. That's the top reason I'm discussing politics on a forum dedicated to a game I no longer play; this one is actually good. For the other 99% of the internet, it's about flinging at each other.

the FB terms of use blatantly say that there is to be no descrimination in groups, and these groups are violating that.

Although I appreciate your anti-racist actions, it's not your place to police the internet, the only people that should are the people that own the sites involved. The beuty of the internet is that people around the world can all input and express their views, regardless of geographical location. Sure you get a few nut jobs, but you get these nut jobs all over the internet, all you can do if they offend you is ignore them.

Also I think your points show why normal people shouldn't try and police the internet, in fact, it shows why no one should at all. You say for example that you allow pro-Gaza groups as long as they aren't derogatory, but who are you or any one else to deem something derogatory? For example someone might call Israel and Apartheid state, you might find that offensive and report the group but then again another person might not find it offensive.


Basically when people try and control the internet things get messy, there's enough censoring and control in our everyday lives as it is. If you don't like something the options simple, don't click the web link and read it.
