Thread: Patches & Steam question

    Default Patches & Steam question

Question: are ETW patches always guarenteed to be save game compatible? I feel like most games (TW series included), you generally have to start a new campaign after patching, right?

I just started playing this week, not sure if I automatically got the 1.1 patch when I registered, but 1.2 definitely had just downloaded before I started playing tonight. I was in the middle of RTI ep 2, and the whole episode is hosed, I've taken the capital of Acadia, but the blacked out area to the north remains blacked out and I have no objectives remaining, yet the episode is incomplete and ep 3 remains locked... I think a couple of other people have had this bug too.

Could that be because the game was patched while I was in the middle of a campaign? And if so, why would anyone want auto-update switched on in steam?

From what I been seeing that the patches are not guaranteed save game compatible. Its best to restart a campaign to get the best results. Especially on this last patch. After I patched I deleted all my old save games and started anew and I'm having far fewer problems than others are listing. I'm still testing things though.

CA have stated that they want each patch to be save game compatible, but as Skott said, you won't recieve all the changes if you don't start a new campaign.
