How do I get to Quebec

Just got the game today, so far I am enjoying it although I am a little disappointed about STEAM. I am playing the ROAD TO INDEPENDENCE and I am stuck in the French and Indian War. I cannot seem to get to Quebec. Right now I have my Army at Fort Carillon and I cannot seem to get the Army across the water way to get to Quebec. I am sure that there is a game mechanic that I just am not doing correctly. Suggestion?

given that ur new to the forums and the game ill point out some obvious ones, having not played the RTI i dont know for sure tho.

boats?
land bridge?

are the 2 obvious ones i can think of other than that i dont know without loading the game and looking at it.

Thank you Knoddy, not condescending at all. There is no way (that I have been able at least) to get a boat up there and there is no land bridge. There is a double headed arrow that is gold in color that spans the water. I assumed that it represented a crossing point, but I cannot do anything with the Army to get it to cross there. Like I said, I am sure that it is some game play mechanic that all who have played for a while take for granted. But I have been trying to cross for about 20 turns- Geo Washington actually died of old age!

Does Quebec actually appear on the map for you, or are you supposed to take Louisburg right now?

I have had Louisburg for sometime and even took Newfoundland so I would have something to do. But Quebec does not appear on the map, I only learned that I was supposed to take Quebec after walking in circles with me Army for a while- then I consulted an online walk through that someone posted. Of course it did not tell me how to get to Quebec.

You game is glitched then. If the area north of the St. Lawrence river is shrouded in black, and you have taken Louisburg, something is wrong. I think you may have to start the campaign again.

You haven't mentioned fort niagra, you did take this? It's the prerequisite for attacking the north. RTI is pretty heavily scripted through episode 2.

Flavius Gonzo asked if it's worth bothering with, you don't learn much more that's essential except episode 3/4 give you a preview of how the later game techs work. and completion is how you can play as the yankees. Don't think I'll play as them again though as it starts pretty late game.
