    Default Kretan BodyGuard

I currently have a Kretan general in my KH campaign, and I want to change his bodyguard to something more historicly accurate. He has the greek bodyguard, but should'nt it be Kretan Archers since he is Kretan. Or maybe a cavalry unit? Please post your suggestions.

Unless you spawn the general by script you can only change the bodyguards for all FM's.
Having multiple bodyguards for 1 faction is impossible (the starting Spartans for the KH are placed at the beginning of the game, only that is possible).

Changing the unit for the recruited generals in a certain region is possible, though not for those you've already recruited.

Well, What I have done is given Kydonia to me from the start, and I gave myself a Kretan general. I was going to change his bodyguard. I have yet to start the game.

Crete was famous for its archer, but that doesn't mean that Cretans fought only as archers. So a Cretan general wouldn't necessarily have archers as bodyguard. In fact, he probably would have stayed with the heavy infantry of (possibly) cavalry, as these would have been the decisive arms, not the light infantry.

Still, if you really want an archery general, you can change the unit attached to starting generals through descr_strat.txt in the EB/data/world/maps/imperial_campaign folder.

Lonchophoroi Hippeis, regular Hippeis are too naff for bodyguards and xystophoroi would be iffy at the very start of the game

I agree with Ludens. I don't believe archers would be used as a Bodyguard unit by a Stategos. Plus, the archers were mostly just filthy brigands and pirates Either stick with the Epilektoi Hoplitai (Krete did produce decent hoplitai), or change them to Lonchophoroi.

a bumped up unit of regular peltastai would be suitable as well--kretans were known as good skirmishers, not merely as archers. 272 is really too early to have a unit of thorakitai or something, and to emphasize kretan character you can do better than epilektoi hoplitai or some sort of cav unit.
