I noticed that most Native american tribes only attack certain Provinces when they have these they stop and defend, even when I started funding them in one campaign fighting the British

i wonder and theorise that this is actually due to being your protectorate.

im my Vh/Vh Poland game i gifted my protectorate saxony massive amounts of land till they owned most of central europe, despite this and despite having Massive armies sitting bout they wont attack any1 even when i bring them into alliance wars. its quite odd. they had like 2 stacks sitting next to a french town when i declared and brought them in and they did nothing.

    Just my 2 Cents

    cheers knoddy

Hi knoddy, I am playing as Ottomans now and the Crimean Khanate proves there is nothing 'generic' in the protectorate design that would prevent them from expanding. at the start of the game, I helped the Khanate out with Russians, by conquering Kiev for them + a few years later I gave them Galicia. I created a small monster... 10 turns later they took Lithuania (on their own) and are besieging Warshaw now. It's all within the first 25 years of the game though. Who knows, probably soon Khanate will go passive...

have we confirmed that protectorates 'do' or 'don't' get counted towards your province objectives?

Check your missions page in the game. At least there, protectorates DO NOT count towards the campaign objectives.

ye they def dont count, i just felt like making my game more interesting by giving myself a large ally. aside from russia. so i pumped saxony up like crazy giving them most of austria and all the minor provinces in central europe. but ye they still didnt help me in any of my wars :(
