I've got Lincolnshire south of me and I darn't say what the tykes say about that lot.

You know something funny? Here in Mexico no one really celebrates the fifth of may, at least not the way you statsians do.
There are plenty of official ceremonies, mentions of honor, and re-enactments, but at least here where I live, no one really celebrates it, I mean besides acknowledging the victory over the french and a speech of the president (and only in that battle, later we lost the war).
The national party that most resembles what I've seen people do in USA on fifth may would be the independence day (16 Sept).
It seems that 5th of may is more celebrated on the US than in Mexico itself
