Voting yourself when no lynch already leads by 3 points?

Reply
Askthepizzaguy 13:22 05-09-2009
Weren't you the one who complained I hadn't offered myself up for a lynch? And if we aren't lynching anyone, why do you begrudge me my attempts to have fun in my own pizzaguy-ish way?

See I'm clearly offering myself now, because it is safe to do so. There won't be a sudden massive bandwagon on poor ole pizzaguy...

FactionHeir 13:23 05-09-2009
Well, I'd vote you just for this, but then I'd the third on your bandwagon and get one on me instead

Come ON! I even used the suspicious ellipsis... you know you want to.

Third on the bandwagon! Third on the bandwagon! One of us! One of us!

We should lynch today. We want the final round to be an odd number. It's better to go down to 3 instead of 4, gives us a 33% chance instead of 25%.

Plus, lynching has a chance at getting a mafioso, and pizza is acting scummy.

Splitpersonality 17:09 05-09-2009
Then again we shouldn't let it come down to that.

Now THIS is some scummy reasoning, actually. you have no way of knowing how the game will unfold or if additional murders will be blocked. Sasaki, you're better than this. I know you like to lynch me, and it may come to that, but you're going after someone I happen to know is not a stoolie, and not only that, you're latching on and not giving very good reasons why I must die. You keep acting like you know what you're doing, but it is an act and nothing more, if you are on our side. Uninformed majority and all that. On my list of suspects I can cross off three people, and you're not one of them.

I'll tell you what. We can lynch me, but then, we have to lynch you. Fair trade?

The lynch may be an hour or three behind schedule, as I'll be at a Phillies game for a few hours today.

No, this is nonsense. Murders are usually not blocked, the odds are favor of them not being blocked. Therefore it is to our advantage to make a lynch--not only do we get a shot at mafia (which is worth it even at random chance), but it gets us to an odd number of people which will probably be in our favor.

I get a scummy feel from your posts (I hope you aren't trying to disprove gut instinct) and you voted yourself when the "no lynch" votes are ahead. Now you argue with me when I say no lynch is a good idea, but suggest a lynch anyway. I said before that your posts read as if you felt trapped by your past suicidal behavior, your grasping at a lynch-for-a-lynch idea is in that same vein.

Now, your accusation that this evidence is not strong is canceled out by the fact that it's round one, that you haven't gone after random votes with less reasoning, and that your accusations of me are weak: "I can't cross you off my suspect list", really? That's why you want me lynched?

I think you have a very good chance at being mafia compared to everyone else so far.

Oh noes, he's got me. Welp, looks like my goose is cooked. You're right, I am trapped by past suicidal behavior. So much so that I couldn't possibly behave any other way, even though it's just a game. Or perhaps I recognize that scumbags, in a quest to get rid of townies when no lynch is the popular choice, will latch on to the very easiest target, and so I presented myself as such and tried to goad people into voting for me. Also known as a baiting tactic.

Your tone here is a lot closer to inishmore than to swords in the moon.

You're getting very defensive about this. Sasaki always jumps on little things in the first few rounds, since there's not really any evidence. Why do you feel the need to write a paragraph to rebut every post he makes?

Lousy Phillies... this is like the 7th or 8th game in a row I've been to where they've lost.

Day 1

"Very well," said Don Giampetro after several hours of discussion. "It appears that not all of you share my paranoia over this situation and do not wish to make somebody pay for their actions... yet. While I disagree with this, I am a Don that listens to the advice and opinions of his men. Therefore, we will not terminate anybody's membership tonight. You may all go back to your homes. Sleep well and hope that nobody sends in the cops after you."

Everybody breathed a sigh of relief and departed the meeting place... until the next day.

Day 1 tally:

No Lynch: 4 (Greyblades, Blackadder, White_eyes, FactionHeir)
Askthepizzaguy: 2 (Sasaki, ATPG)
Shinseikhaan: 1 (Tratorix)
atheotes: 1 (pevergreen)

It is now night, lasting for 24-ish hours. I need orders.

I'm not roleplaying a weakling wannabe swordsman who is more interested in following orders than defending himself.

I like to encourage discussion. And I always talk this much, just about everyone here can attest to that. Yet another reason why I'm a popular lynch choice.

Maybe I missed something. Is AVSM not allowed to vote?

Reply
GeneralHankerchief 02:20 05-10-2009
Nope, AVSM has full voting privileges attributed to him.

Askthepizzaguy 02:22 05-10-2009
I didn't even see him listed under "abstain" so I was wondering.

Reply
FactionHeir 02:26 05-10-2009
I think you actually have to vote abstain to count as abstain. Posting but not voting = no vote.
Don't think it matters in AVSM's case though since GH probably won't WoGH the Don

What's the difference between abstain and no vote?

Reply
Greyblades 02:58 05-10-2009
Abstain is a "I dont know who to vote for" vote and no lynch is a "I dont want anyone lynched this turn" vote.

Reply
navarro951 03:50 05-10-2009
Hmm, the only people i find suspicious are the people who have already voted just for kicks, they either have it out for someone to make it easy for them to snitch on, or they are just hoping they got the rat, im going with the latter but just cant decide which one.

Northnovas 04:09 05-10-2009
There is one who did not vote at all this round. That could be suspicious?

Reading the game helps.

Don gets to vote. Not voting at all draws more suspicion than voting for someone.

OMGUS votes are not great form, but I enjoy them.

Sorry, I put off voting on the first day, but neglected to remember that I had a road trip the next. Believe me, I'm not going to try and lurk my way as don....
