    Default Stupid afterbattle autoresolve

everyone knows that when you hit end battle you take a few extra casualties, that's just a minor annoyance to me for land battles.

I was playing a sea battle had won and decided to continue. I had all 5 ships left and the enemy had 3 left 1 of which already surrendered. I grapeshot the other ship but it unfortunately sinks the third ship is upwind and uncatchable so I decide to end the battle right then as there is no sense in waiting for it to leave map.

Come to the battle results because the game autoresolved a won battle and 2 of my 5 ships were sunk.

So for now in sea battles if you hit continue you have to continue all the way to the end or end the battle right away once it is ended.

All previous titles when you ended a won battle what you had on the field at the moment of quitting was what you had back on the campaign map

More than a few extra casualties on land....yesterday I won a battle where I lost 7 light dragoons, and in the after battle screen ended up losing 143 of my 5exp infantry. Not cool.

This is why you never end a battle by aborting out. If you've hit continue after the end battle option pops up, fast forward is your friend.

But if you hit continue battle and don't catch every last man the flintlock militia(mob) respawns making the city uncapturable so it's OK for non city battles but city battles you have to take the few extra losses to capture the city

IMO this is one feature I hope gets taken away

I clicked continue, got impatient chasing the last 2 guys on the other side of map, clicked quit battle for 143 extra casualties. I can only blame myself

Interesting, that does sound silly, especially on city assaults. I always hit end battle on city assaults when it's a victory, because all the survivors are destroyed anyway. You're saying that if you hit continue and don't get them all, you don't even get to capture the city?

Maybe he is talking about an intercept?

However I have been intercepted and captured the town, and that was not my intention. Usually a few movement points shy.

I think that is something that has been changed.

As to quitting from a battle, we all know from past experience it is not your best choice. Either quit when it is offered or use fast forward if they escape.

And may I recommend to not auto resolve sea battles except when you can loose ships needlessly or there is only a red speck at the end of the scale. Even if it is a sure to loose…just put it on fast forward and play keep away…

No , I've had it happen too .

I've had the defenders sally , won the battle , then discovered they still held the city and my seige was lifted , but I've also attacked them in annother seige and clicked "continue" after being given victory and because I didn't kill every last enemy combatant they still held the city and my seige was lifted .
Both occasions I not only had to start the segies again from scratch , but also their free troops {firelock armed citizens etc} were at full strength despite my assaulting them the very turn I resieged .

    Seiges are bugged .

Really? That has only happened to me on sallies. I never lay siege now, always attack instantly.

Then just after you hit fast forward - WHITE SCREEN OF DEATH

This happened to me twice last night, both times in battles i'd won against the odds and one that had taken 45 minutes

I went and watch TV for the rest of the night

Post patch I have not had the problem…but it still may be there sometimes, I guess.

I havn't played since the latest patch {still trying to mod out the worst cheese etc which the latest pach managed to either introduce or make worse} so I wouldn't know if it was fixed in the last patch or not ; however , if the A.I. can still break a seige every time just by sallying even if it loses worse than Michael Jackson in a fistfight with Mike Tyson , then the other bug will very likely still be there as they are clearly related in some way .

Glad you havn't been bugged by them lately though .

    Sorry for your problems!

I think I saw them listed as fixed or as a work in progress some where.

    However, as to ending casualties.

I have often had a single sloop or a pair of them attacked by Pirates or some enemy. I had gotten tired of running and getting backed into a corner or being eliminated because of the retreat so I just avoided combat for an hour. Actually on fast forward.

Any way the enemy retreats and comes back the next turn of course, but it is now damaged. Each loss induced more damage. I have even see it loose ships.

    This is just FYI.
