As the night grew dark, many Senators sat in their villas, afraid of what fortune might bring their way. Yet as the hours crept past without incident they slowly relaxed and began to forget their worries. Soon wine and music both flowed freely in the dwellings of Rome. When dawn broke, no unusual incidents of any kind were reported within the city limits. Could this be so? Was this the end of the chaos? Had the issue finally been settled once and for all?
