    Default Provinciae Romanae

I really love the fact that Romani family members can become propraetors of provinces (via their retinues).

Each propraetor gets a management and/or influence bonus whilst in the province he governs.

One problem I have is trying to work out where one province stops and where another starts. Sometimes that's easy - eg. Sicilia comprises the three cities in Sicily. But sometimes its more complex to work out the boundaries - eg. Achaea and Macedonia (which province is Demetrias in?). A similar problem is trying to work out whether a newly conquered territory is in a new province. Eg. is there a province of Illyria? Mauretania? Dacia/Thrace? Cisalpina?

Does anyone perchance have a list of all the Roman provinces in EB and the cities comprising each?

Neither. Demetrias is the capital city of the province named Thessalia. Achaia has Korinthos as its capital, while Makedonia has Pella.

I think Demetrias is in the macedonia province, can't help you on the rest though. You'll need to look through the export_descr_ancillaries file for that.

    edit: On second thought,

    Sicilia: Messana, Syrakuosai, Lilibeo
    Corsica et Sardinia: Alalia, Karali
Africa Ventus: Kart Hadast, Adrumeto, Atiqa
    Gallia Cisalpina: Patavium, Bononia, Segesta
    Hispania Citerior: Emporion, Mastia, Arse
Hispania Ulterior: Biakor, Sucum Murgi, Gader
    Gallia Narbonensis: Massalia, Tolosa
    Macedonia: Pella, Demetrias, Ambrakia, Thermon
    Asia: Pergamon, Sardis, Halikarnassos
    Achaea: Athenai, Korinthos, Sparte
    Bithynia: Nikaia: Amaseia, Sinope
    Africa Nova: Lepki, Kirtan, Ippone
    Syria: Antiocheia, Sidon, Damaskos
    Judea: Hierosolyma
    Gallia Comata: Viennos, Burdigala, Gergovia
    Cyrenacia: Kyrene, Agulia, Paraitonion, Ammonion

It isn't. Except if things are different for the Roman province system?

Well, to the Romans, those pesky Pellans were never fit to rule, so they keep demetrios as the capital. The EB team represented this quite well. :)

well, Barbaropolis was unruly, but easy to conquer. So the Basileus of the fatherland decided to let them live and cull them once every few years...

Why is it that the behaviour of the fans of the following factions are:

    Macedonia hates Romans
    Romans hate Barbarians and Macedonia
Barbarians hate Romans and each other
KH stays neutral unless supporting Macedonia
    few people like Epeiros

Well, Many people do not publicly admit it. Even fewer put that they do on their siggy.

And RTW does not take screen shots of loading screens.

Extremely unlikely, since Epeiros team with KH to crush Macedonia to powder or dust, possessing Pella (and ocassionally Demetrias) in their conquest. Then again, the Ptolemies may want a piece of Greece.......

Regarding Roman provinces and gens does any one else have problems seeing the whole of the descriptive text in the FM's trait list?
I do and it's annoying as I really enjoy reading the history etc and someone has put a lot of work into it.

Thanks for the list bobbin. Is that from the EB computer files?

Strange because I have owned the three cities in cisalpina for some time, and my family members there haven't been made propraetors yet. I currently have propraetors for sicilia, corsica/sardinia, africa vetus, macedonia and achaea. I will get working on the rest.

Chris, I also have problems reading the whole of the text of some traits/retinues when I hover the cursor over them. I actually noticed this when trying to read the text for the propraetor retinue for africa vetus. It contains some interesting history of the province under Roman rule, but I could only read the second half of it.

Putting them in a fort and reading it can sometimes make it easier to read, if the retinue is the last in a full retinue this works quite well.

I'm guessing that you've tried looking in the targa/.tga dump folder in your RTW directory; maybe RTW only performs a screen dump when you're "in-game" (i.e. viewing the campaign map, or during battle); you might not be able to get it to automatically dump when you're at a menu, either (that is, not a menu that pops up during play with the Escape key). Then again, maybe RTW/EB is just too busy during the loading screens to be concerned with automating this dump function.

...anyway, there shouldn't (I don't think?!) be any reason why your OS wouldn't "memorise" the state of your screen when you last pressed Prt scr, although you'll need to close or minimise EB and paste it from the clipboard to [your choice of image editing software; I recommend MSPaint, and saving as .PNG]

    Yes it is.

Not sure why you haven't got the propraetor yet, could be that none of your FM's have high enough influence or maybe they have reached the maximum ancillary number (8) and can't get any more.

Here's the trigger section for one of the cities, I think Electability is dependant on influence.
    Code:
    Trigger acquire_Governor_of_Gallia_Cisalpina_Segesta
        WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd
        Condition FactionType seleucid
              and EndedInSettlement
              and RemainingMPPercentage = 100
              and IsGeneral
              and SettlementName Segesta
              and I_SettlementOwner Bononia = seleucid
              and I_SettlementOwner Patavium = seleucid
              and SettlementBuildingExists > gov4
              and SettlementBuildingExists < govparthian
              and Attribute Electability < 11
              and not FactionwideAncillaryExists Governor_of_Gallia_Cisalpina
              and Trait FamilyMember > 0

        AcquireAncillary Governor_of_Gallia_Cisalpina Chance 100
        Affects NumAncillariesAcquired 1 Chance 100
Also in some of the provincae only some of the cities will give FM's the propraetor title, ie in sicily only FM's in Messana or Syrakuosai will get the title.

I have another question: What happens if the FM with the "governor of .... " trait, dies? Is this ancillary away forever or is it possible to get it everytime a new FM enters the province and has the required traits?

I almost never got these. After even a quick education and a couple of battles most of my FM had too many ancillaries to get provincial governor. The benefits of a good education are usually far more than that of a governorship anyway. Its a pity it works out that way, as it does add a lot of character to the game, but you cannot control which ancillaries to accept.

That's a bug that was overlooked according to bovi, Lilibeo should also be included

I checked. The family member I have sitting in Segesta is a very senior family member, with plenty of influence and a few command stars. He only has one or two retinue ancillaries at present. I have the same situation with a couple of family members sitting in Lepki and Ippone.

Can anyone help me to work out what I need to do to get the propraetor retinue for those family members? I don't really understand some of the trigger prerequisites in the code set out by bobbin - for example - what is "General", what is "Electability < 11" and what is "SettlementBuildingExists < govparthian".
