    Default A change in History

Recently in my campaign the Macedonians where heavily defeated by the Hellenes and Getai. Then in stepped the King of Epirus. Since the lost of their only settelment in Italia, Tarentum, the Kingdom of Epirus had had difficult times. Their expansion was slow, but they did conquer the Illyrian coast. Apart from Ambrakia and Epidamnos, they took Dalminion and Segestica. They even moved their capital to Dalminion. The Macedonians launched a heavy assault on all fronts, winning Epidamnos, Tylis, Byzantion, Pergamon and Sardis, but lost Corinth, Demetrias and Chalcis to the Hellenes. During the Getic offensive they lost Tylis and Pella was besiged by the Hellenes, they failed. So in stepped the King of Epirus Alexandros Aiakides, the son of Pyrrhus. He succeeded where his father failed.

Know I need some help, because I decided to change the faction name. Epirus is no longer a suitable name for them, having conquered the birth place of Megas Alexandros. Searching with spies I notices that almost all family members of Epirus are of the Aiakides family, so a name around this should be suitable. Also the Macedonians need a change in name because apparently they will finish with only Pergamon, Byzantion and Mytilene.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers.

Maybe "Dynasteia Aiakidon" (ΔΥΝΑΣΤΕΙΑ ΑΙΑΚΙΔΩΝ in Greek), meaning "Dynasty of the Aeacids"?

Out of interest how do you do this exactly? I assume its save game compatible - is it just a question of editing files and if so which ones?

Classical history is interesting. Especially when accompianied by EB.

    EB\Data\text\expanded_bi

Just change any names you want there. Remember to keep backup files just in case you accidentally mess up things.

If the family of Pyrrhos conquered and solidified their power in Makedonia, they would call themselves the kings of Makedonia. Just calling them "Makedonia" would probably work. You could call old Makedonia "Pergamon"...

Thanks Maion, thats a great name, I already changed the expanded_bi folder. As MarcusAureliusAntoninus suggested, I will change the name of the Macedonians depending with what cities they are left, maybe Pergamon, who knows.

    Cheers.

I highly doubt that. The Epeirotai might have been Hellenes, but they were different from the Makedones. Even when Pyrrhos claimed the throne of Makedonia, he didn't call his Kingdom as such. His goal was simply to unify Hellas under his Crown and re-take (probably, I might be wrong here) the Empire of Megas Alexandros. In any way, he [Pyrrhos] was very ambitious and would have carved himself a pretty nice Kingdom, had he not died that day in Argos.

I have another option for a name, once a faction unifies Hellas. You could go for "Symmachia Hellenon" (ΣΥΜΜΑΧΙΑ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ in Greek), or "Alliance of the Greeks", since even Philippos (Alexandros' father) called the unified front against the Medes "Corinthian League". But that would probably take some years after the original conquest, since turning from a rulilng tribe (like the Molossoi) to masters of a nation and giving your subjects a sense of unity, would probably require time for the integration of the various attributes of each conquered people into the new Kingdom.
