Default My first serious CTD problem, any idea's?

I've just encountered my first persistent 'Crash To Desktop' problem following a naval landing at Otrobanda on Curacao as shown below.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

I tried attacking Punda as soon as I landed, as troops landed at a port are allowed to move in the same turn, and that caused a CTD.

So, I reloaded and just tried moving my troops out of the port, thinking it might be a problem caused by trying to attack one settlement with an army within another. But I got a CTD as soon as I tried to move my army out of the port.

Next, I decided to forget about attacking Punda immediately and ended the turn, thinking that perhaps the game was getting upset about suddenly having an army injected into the interception zone of the Punda garrison and would sort itself out if I gave it an extra turn to get its act together again. But that didn't work and the same problem persists.

So, any idea's or work arounds?

Perhaps, I should start again and land the troops on the beach.

P.S. Interesting.....I can put all the army back on the boats and the game is quite happy. However, as soon as I try to put the General back on the boat (either last or on his own) the game crashes. So, it seems to be the General who is the problem.

OK! Sorted - Yet another workround discovered

Having discovered that the problem seems to be limited to the General I tried moving all my army except the General out of the port. They moved out quite happily into the countryside between Otrabanda and Punda, so I thought fair enough now can I assault Punda with a leaderless army. Yep! no problem, in fact I even get my General as a reinforcement. So, if you get a similar problem try dumping your general. No idea why the game has an issue with him mind you.

The bad news is that even after Punda was captured and despite the fact that he turned up for the battle as a reinforcement any attempt to move the General at all, even the next turn caused the game to crash. I can't even disband the unit, because of I try the game crashes, so I guess I shall have a General parked in Otrabanda until he dies of old age.

Yep!..caused an instant CTD. In fact, trying to do anything with him, including disband his unit causes the game to crash. So, I've just had to leave him to guard the port at Ortabanda until he dies of old age.

Odd how some tiny things cause a CTD. Wait until the next turn, make a save and try to move him then…

I know I have had those click fleet and ctd but not this one and there is usually a work around, even if you have to go back several turns and do things a little different.
