Did anyone else find it necessary to remove their secondary weapon in order to make them anything approaching useful or was it just me?

All men will one day die, but not every man will truely live.
...you don't find AP swords useful...?
For each his own, I guess.

Nah I needed SOMETHING that could be used as an Anti-cav unit, western auxilia did great at that, but now so do Eastern auxilias. Didn't understand why they had ap swords, made them almost as good as legionarries.

Believe me, against Eastern heavy cavalry, you will need AP weapons. Even the Camillian Triarii will be mauled by catas. While the Triarii were mauled, my Pedites Extraordinarii mauled and routed the catas back, with light 6-9% casualties per cataphract unit annihilated. Spears do not help much against such monsters.
Guys, Eastern Auxilia do not have ap weapons for their secondary. On the battlefield it looks like they have a kopis, but i just looked it up in the export descr units folder. Their secondary sword is not ap.

@Julius: in which EB version did you check: 1.2 or an older version?

Gah! Than that's probably an overview. You should add ap to attributes of the sword, if you want them to function as they should. I bet you will like them more that way.
That's probably a good idea. It sure would help to slaughter those pesky cataphracts. Well, it's not surprising that the EB Team would miss a few things. Nobody's perfect. Still the best game in the world.![]()

There seems to still be a bunch of oversights and glitches left in the EDU. Besides the aforementioned missing AP attribute, a couple of precursor javelins are still defined as "archery" instead of something blacksmith-upgradeable... and at least two units are plain statted wrong, namely the Dunamanisomethings down in Iberia and, particularly, the Bruttian infantry.
Gah.
