Timing the March of Time (yes, another MOT question!)

Sorry for yet another MOT query here, but I just can't quite put all the forum information toghether on this topic to come up with a satisfactory answer, even after lots of searching. I'm in a Baktrian campaign at 215BC and am thinking about the timing of the bodyguard reforms tied to the March of Time. So, I hope this is quick...

The EB FAQ defines the Baktrian reforms as tied to the March of Time = "vanilla Marian reforms". Are "vanilla Marian reforms" those reforms that occurred in vanilla RTW? So in vanilla RTW, you only need to see a city other than Rome to become huge to trigger the reforms? No restrictions on number of latifundia, etc., as in EB?

If this is indeed the case, what do you all think would be a reasonable point in time for Capua to become Huge? I want to be somewhat historical about this transition and, therefore, more realistic about the appearance of the upgraded Baktrian bodyguards. I can't imagine this occurred within the first 3-4 decades of the EB timeframe...or did it?

This whole issue may in some ways become moot as the Carthaginians are currently blitzing through Italy from the south and have already taken Capua. For my MOT-based reforms to occur, assuming Rome can't handle the pressure, I'll have to do some console work to make the right things happen.

Yes, for the MoT the Romani only have to own one huge city with the "Italy" resource. I doesn't matter if a other faction upgraded the city to huge. So if Karthadastim upgrades Capua and the Romani take it back, it should works too.

So Roma should work too (would be nice if someone could confirm this). Ceterum censeo Romam esse delendam.

just to be safe you could try to get a diplomat in the area to do some (forced diplomacy) Land transactions in case the romans get kicked out of italy and there is no chance they would reconquer it on their own. ;)

I'm fairly certain that Roma herself cannot trigger it. If you must, simply add population to one of the Roman cities.

Let's play some "What If?" here...would a similar type of military transformation have occurred if this had taken place in reality? What do you think would have triggered such an event?

Anybody want to take a stab at describing an alternate history?

The Hesteroi Pezhetairoi were response to the Roman expansion, so they were tied to the Romani. But the Koinon Hellenon Phalangitai were a response to the successor states and their Phalangitai. And the change/development of bodyguards of varrious eastern factions is a response to the surrounding empires not the Romani in particular. So even without the Romani, most of the changes and developmets would have happened. Ceterum censeo Romam esse delendam.
