Perhaps the attacker had a weapon originally, Melee of origin of course, and tried to use it to throw flak on someone else. I'm sure an umbrella agent would be good at foraging, even enough to get a melee weapon of some sort.

IIRC Zombies don't gain more kills, just more stats to their offense.

Like they get one attack with much better chances of killing.
