Default Stainless Steel 6.2 Hotseat - Dogs of War (completed, winner Nightbringer)

*Winner, Best Hotseat Campaign, 2010 Org Hall of Fame Awards*

*The game is finished and the Kievan Rus (Nightbringer) is the winner. Congratulations!*

Stainless Steel – Dogs of War is a hotseat campaign for SS6.2

This thread is the official OOC thread that we shall be using to post our saves and discuss the game in a friendly and relaxed fashion. All IC diplomacy should be directed to the French King’s Court thread. All stories and AARs related to the game should be directed to the Cry "Havoc!" thread.

PLEASE REFRAIN FROM POSTING OOC IN EITHER RP THREAD.

    Version
    - Full Medieval Total War 2 : Kingdoms patched to 1.05
    - Stainless Steel 6.2 with Community Hotseat Patch 1.2

You can find the SS files here and the hotseat patch here

In patch 6.1 DO NOT SELECT ANY OPTIONS.

    Rules of the game
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    - Each turn should be completed within 48 hours. Extensions can be granted in extenuating circumstances, at the discretion of the GM. After 48 hours with no contact from a player the GM will arrange for the turn to be subbed either by a sub designated by the player, or a neutral third-party sub, or a faction allied to that player, or by the GM in that order of preference.
    - All battles, including those between player-controlled factions, may be fought by the attacking player (against the VH AI), or auto-resolved.
    - No players can join or initiate a Crusade or Jihad. Those events are to be IGNORED for balance’s sake.
    - Please send a private message to the next player in line to alert them that it is their turn.
    - Players are requested to compete in good faith and with a sporting spirit at all times.
    - No exploits. The following exploits are banned. This list is not exhaustive, and in considering a course of action the player concerned should have regard for the rule regarding sportsmanlike conduct. If there is any doubt about exactly what actions these exploits involve, or whether a given action which is not specifically banned would constitute an exploit, please seek guidance from the GM or other players before completing the relevant turn.
*** Re-loading of save game to play the turn again in a different way, or to create a different outcome.
    *** Merchant fort exploit.
*** Surround and destroy exploit (relating to agents, also to armies or ships engaged in battle. An escape route of at least one tile must be left.)
*** Deliberately setting up tribute deals which will result in a faction going more than 20k in debt.
*** Deliberately exchanging territories for the sole purpose of gaining a free garrison.
*** Deliberate manipulation of the diplomacy system in order to break a siege, or achieve any other unrealistic in-game outcome.
*** Quitting a losing siege assault battle while your troops are still in the settlement so that the battle is won due to the known bug.

    - It is not permitted to assault a settlement or fort under siege with an army entirely or mostly composed of cavalry if in the resulting battle the AI will sally from the settlement or fort. As a guide, the AI has been observed to sally in this situation when the strength ratio is more than 3:1 in its favour. If a player chooses to assault and then discovers the AI sallying in this way he must quit the battle and reload the save immediately before the assault, choosing instead to maintain the siege or withdraw his forces. This is the only circumstance in which reloading is permitted.

In all previous versions of SS, You were not aloud to build forts onto resorces. But with my hotseat patch 1.1, I realized that some settlements had resorces in their way, so they could never be fully blocked off. So i have enabled forts to be placed ontop of resorces. With that, Please only put 1 merchant insdie of the fort IF you plan to use it!

Please remember the key points of this.

#1, Forts will be enabled, but they will NEVER be removed. So be Smart about placing forts! (Rebels will move into empty forts if they are near by or may spawn into empty forts.)

#2, Children cap has been enhanced to 6 instead of 4. to increase families.

#3, Balancing / Dead Settlement acts have been ensured. Any settlement below 1000 will be at 1200 population now, though, they will still be a village / castle, So BE CAREFUL about sacking very small towns! It might be better to occupy them!

    Thanks!

I hope you like my Hotseat patch 1vs1, The first offical hotseat patch for SS 6.2!

    Regards-

    Merlox.

(PS:) your map does not work.

Okay, so there's actually no 'please' about the merchant fort exploit (To be explicit placing 2-20 merchants in a fort on a resource). It's an exploit, if you get caught using it there should be a form of punishment as it's a violation of the rules. Just don't use it, simple as that.

I love it that rebels will move into empty forts. That offers some interesting strategic possibilities as far as moving rebel armies into enemy territory... wait, shouldn't have let that slip eh?

I simply copied phonics' post for BC. The point is, you get caught doing something fishy, you get punished. But we're all good, honest people here. So that shouldn't happen!

Also, shouldn't we send our passwords to Lemon, just in case one of us drops out suddenly?

If one of us is expected to leave for some time.

I might be leaving for July 27 - Augest 14, I donno if i can bring a computer not, If so, I will tell who ever will be subbing me my password, And I expect the pass to be the same when i get back.

But if some one just decides to drop the ball and quit this game, The host in my opinion has full rights to remove his password for a new player.

My password is the same as in all my hotseat games, half the people playing probably know it.

I'm going to be out of town starting the 6th until the 4th of July weekend, but I expect to have some 'net access while we're at the beach, I just don't know how reliable. I will keep up with things.

For the peace treaty, there is a gameplay issue that will need to be solved before it can be signed. The forts around Bologna have to be "invaded" by the HRE otherwise, they still appear as venitians. And since they're permanent...

So I don't know how you guys intend to solve that. But let's not use the game's faulty diplomatic capacities to stir any more trouble than is necessary.

Well, Asinus can take the forts in his territory easily enough, because they're empty. Obviously, I'll be keeping mine under my own control.
