Thread: Stainless Steel 6.2 Hotseat - Dogs of War (completed, winner Nightbringer)

You're right Ramses, vanilla blitz. But in Stainless Steel, the Turks' initial position is something of a mix of the poorest choices between the Great Seljuk and the BC Turks. I've always felt the only viable option was either to war from the start against Egypt or the Byz... But who gets the is all up to barca

That is rather Incorrect to the furthest bit. I had some very great campaign games as the Seljuk Empire, where I at least got all of turkey + geogia + near shah borders.

The only choice that they have really is Keep on going East, or keep on going West. West having the great Constantinople right there, and east is just no-mans land, not like any one is going to bother you if you keep on going east.

Well this is just what I said. The best cities you can get when playing the Turks belong to other factions... But their starting position is rather awkward. Not that it doesn't make for interesting games! My best Stainless Steel game to date has been trying to turtle as the Teutonic Knights. Boy is that one hard!

Sounds like Hungary! If you want to have a crappiest units competition I think I can beat you with my Spear Militia and Peasant Archers (do they even have real bows, or are they just throwing sticks?!).

OK, I think I got this thing working.

So, just let me know when I have to play my turn!

Also, could someone tell me the situation in Spain? What settlements are Rebel, Spanish and Moorish held?

Who are Spanish enemies and who are their allies?

Spain is not at war with the Moors, and I just made a diplomatic offer to them (Trade rights and map exchange). I lay siege to the rebel settlements west and east of Cordoba, but otherwise I think Iberia is wide open.

I am sorry, I had a few problems at home.

My turn will be up within the hour.

LE: I can't download the savegame, the link doesn't work. Could you reupload it or send it to me directly? Thanks.

    lol, I might just send a personal Jihad boat ALL the way up to england... XD As it is, Once you get very good at the game, you require almost no troops to take settlements, I split my armies right at the start and went to a total blitz... And if you don't know, AskThePizzaGuy taught me alot of things about blitzing. It is an extremely good tactic, but if you mess up, you risk losing all of your armies, and going behind every one else...and I've only tried to perfect them... 16 settlements in at the end of 4 turns / start of turn 5... hmmm >.>;
I can verify that this link does not work at this time. Re-UL Merlox?

Actually, it's not the siege in and of itself that's hard. My biggest lost in this game is 13 men. But I've realised Egypt starts with a very good spy. Something like 4 or 5 ranks. While everyone else has only a 1 rank spy.

That's the major reason behind the rapid expansion. With the few more spies I have this turn, even if some of the useless suckers die, it should start going a bit faster.

Then again, there's a bit more to it I guess... I've never really managed to win the vanilla game in less then 45-50 turns.

I've noticed that spy myself. And the wrong abilities that he had... (Poisoner is an Assassin attribute.. correct!?)
also, the other MAIN reason why, is because there are so many targets in range... I can simply go around, and back at it... also the fact is that I've used up my main forces, and yet still going.
but the silly fact is that nobody has monsterous Rebel defenses like I did... -_- which payed a heavy price to my faction. but i still managed to keep going.
Last but not least, Note that in this game, I started off worst. My spy didn't open up the gates like he did in the old game the 1st turn. (which was an upset) ._.

But also, you were kinda wrong, I was expanding in 2 different ways, in which i always had a naval transport (South to mecca)

And not only was it just alone with that spy. but that Jerusalem came with a brothel pre-built. along with many other structures... so I had 1 more spy than the common person :x

Hum, monstrous rebel defenses.... Bruges *cough* *cough*

Notably, I haven't sent anyone there yet. Planning on this turn though. 2 spies, ze King and some straggler cavalry. We'll see how much those stupid pikemen like running in circles!

    A question ..

Can I still build forts if they are "permanent" ones?
IIRC, then I had the option of building forts when I played the save.

This game they are permemant forts.

They cost the same though, Be weary though of where you place them. Because the enemy can use it if they get ahold of it.

For the peace treaty, there is a gameplay issue that will need to be solved before it can be signed. The forts around Bologna have to be "invaded" by the HRE otherwise, they still appear as venitians. And since they're permanent...

So I don't know how you guys intend to solve that. But let's not use the game's faulty diplomatic capacities to stir any more trouble than is necessary.

Well, Asinus can take the forts in his territory easily enough, because they're empty. Obviously, I'll be keeping mine under my own control.

And you'll technically be at war again as soon as he does so (or you can't make peace until he's finished) - I think this is the point Lemon was making.
