I have this strange bug of not being able to ally the pope. I believe he is, somehow, still allied to Genoa, while I'm still at war with Genoa, even if Genoa is bust. Hope you don't end in the same sort of conundrum.

Were any players allied to Genoa? If you ally with a player who is allied with Genoa you will be forced to peace.

This was a bug in vanilla that happened very rarely, but I suppose it could be some kind of feature in SS? Makes some sense that if you wipe out a Papal ally you have some trouble recovering your relations.

Probably a bug. And I don't think anyone was allied to Genoa. But it doesn't matter much. It's a tad annoying but I can live with it.
