Question How to make Regions in BI

I need help with (as the topic says) making new regions for BI.
I have tried using the same modding as for vanilla rome but BI differs from vanilla and i cant figure it out

So if any1 can tell me wich files i need to edit and so fourth it would be very kind.
and tell me wich steps i need to take in the files?

    welcome to the forums

BI isn't actually any different from RTW for mapping. The BI files are in
Rome - Total War/BI/data/world etc... and are similar to the RTW ones

the faction names are different but the way the map tga's work is exactly the same..

where exactly are you getting stuck?

    i think it is:
    descr_regions_and_settlement_name_lookup

you see in this file that every "region" has 3 names...
    ex:
    Cyrenaica
    Cyrenaica
    Cyrene

i do everything as for rome...every single step. check and recheck. still it wont work.

what version of BI are you patched to? You should ideally be using 1.6 - in which case that lookup file isn't used...

have realised what you meant about it being different though BI can have some extra lines in descr_regions.txt

    Tripolitania
    legion: Flavia_Salutis
    Lepcis_Magna
    empire_west
    Berbers
    2 252 0
    slaves, purple_dye, camels, berber
    5
    5
    christianity 70 pagan 30
bit in red is the legion name for the province - they don't need to be unique so just copy one from an existing region - if you do want a new legion name then you need to put a third entry for it in the
data/text/barbarian_invasion_regions_and_settlement_names.txt (or your provincial campaigns version of that if you're modding a provincial campaign) that region in the example has entries
    Code:
    {Tripolitania} Tripolitania
    {Flavia_Salutis} Flavia Salutis
    {Lepcis_Magna} Lepcis Magna
the bit in blue is the religion line - which gives the starting percentages in the settlement - the numbers should add up to 100 in total - at the moment just copy one from an existing region.

have you got -show_err on your shortcut? and if so is it giving you any messages?

yep - you can ignore the lookup file...

If you've done the right thing with those legion and religion lines and its still not working - make sure you know exactly when/how it's failing - eg. are you crashing back to desktop (CTD) instantly or are you just getting pushed back to the menu when you try and load (KTM)..

assuming you've remembered to delete the map.rwm - are you getting a new one generated?

try also reading this list of common problems

and see if any of them sound like what's happening to you.
