Default Units that should have been in EB..

I've been thing on making a mini mod for the light version of ALXEB that will include new and historical units.
So the qustion is, what units that existed between 272 BC to 14 CE were not included in EB?

Well, rhinocerii were used in the battle of Thermopylae, for instance.

This strikes me as somewhat of a paradox, and is therefore unfortunately unanswerable.

Perhaps a more pertinent question would be, what does this mean?

    *sigh*
It means that I wish to add more units to EB, and I want use units that existed in EB time frame historicaly, but weren't included in EB.

I remember an EB member mentioning that there was once a unit planned for Epeiros for the third tribe of the city to be represented. Some kind of none phalanx, infantry unit.
The same faction used to have dedicated Illyrian versions of the Thureophoroi and Thorakitai but they were dropped since it meant they couldn't have the Hellenic versions due to various reasons and I guess they were more important.
Also mentioned that they would have liked a lighter version of the Thureophoroi but didn't want to give another slot to a very similar Hellenic unit type.
EB also said there was meant to be an armoured Balearic slinger that was never made.
We still don't have any kind of unit in Sicily to represent the native peoples, some kind of Peltastai
similar to the Lucanians I guess.
The EB 2 video had some Hellenic sword unit that looked almost like Kiarians. Not sure who they were.
That's all I got off the top of my head.

I don't know if it is historical accurate, but it would be nice, if Hellenic factions could recruit some kind of elite (or at least medium phalanx) in Taras, perhaps Leukaspides. If I remember correctly, Pyrrhos used them during his Italian campaign. I know that the name only replies to their shields and not to Taras particular, Leukaspides could be every unit all over the world, as long as their shield are white. But I always wanted to have some "special" phalanxes, tide to a special region/city. Ceterum censeo Romam esse delendam.

Indeed, Taras should have a much larger selection of Greek troops.

    I approve.

There has been a thread/topic asking what units didn't make EBI. (Due to loss of files,...) it has a few links to wips,... of such units that got lost or where never uploaded to our servers. You can always add those. (Use the search function as I'm to lazy atm.)

I remeber reading that they were going to include a baktrian phalanx unit. Sort of like Makedon and Epeiros phalanxes. An elite one anyways

Exclamation Re: Units that should have been in EB..

Wow, Leviathan DarklyCute, you will be my hero when you release this. I play EB on ALEX, and the idea that I can have some extra units bothers me every time I play EB. I was recently thinking about importing select units from RTR and other mods, but I suppose this will no longer be necessary!

So, why don't you go and ask some EB team members if they have leftover models & skins from units not included in EB due to restrictions on the unit slots?? This will be the best thing you can do, since anything made by the EB team is guaranteed to be 100% accurate .

Huh? How is that possible? Odd. Do you think other mods will give you permission? You are making a mini-mod, after all, but you never know. So will you focus primarily on RTR then?

I suggest brainstorming on AoRs that have few available units but are relatively accessible and widely-visited by EB players. Adding more units in already full AoR is still fun, but not of as much use.

There should be quite a few more phalanx and hoplite units in Greek colonial areas, of unique types if possible.

Word of warning, though; IIRC there's not much "free space" left in the EDU and/or DMB...

There're lots, and that isn't an indictment of the EB team - it's just that the limitations of the engine require selective rosters. A better question to ask is, which factions would you like to know about?
