Mee to pal, just messing! now, Topic!!! So Darius, if your Generals are real men, they shouldn't be retired! fight on! Follow the tip of a real warrior (That's mean, sweboz!) and send as administrator only the ''cowards'' and so, as punishment! Heros die in Hero... Not in a consular bed! but on the piles of bodies he killed before in the battle he heroicly died in, so he can now go eat and fight in peace among the Gods in the Valhallah while waiting for the Ultimate battle of the Gods against the Giants, deciding the outcome of living and deads! Amen!
Opinions are like bacteries : we all have, but it's better to keep them for ourself... (By me!)

    Well then backt to topic:

If you do retire your generals then do you take a look at where he would like to govern? Maybe in a province he has conquered (and enslaved/exterminated the populace) to make good for his bad deeds? Or do you guys simply send him to the first province in sight?

Generally, when my Basileus retires I send him to the capital. If he is some good Startegos, I send him to a province that needs governing. If he's just an incompetent fool, I send him to the borders of the Basileion to defend against some hostile territory.

I usually set up 'regional capitols' of sorts in crucial areas to put my better commanders after they've killed any opposition, and from there they can be rushed out to any city that needs them, but usually if nothing is going on they can do whatever they wish in the city they had been sent to, so long as they don't piss everyone off in the process.
